Cedar Creek Falls - SoCal

Cedar Creek Falls - SoCal One of San Diego County's hidden gems, Cedar Creek Falls is nearly 80 feet in height and during peak flow months, provides an awesome show.

At the base is a large pool suitable for swimming, having a rope swing on one side and climbable rocks suitable for jumping off of on the other. Unfortunately a new trail was built for access to the falls in early 2011 which has led to the current state of affairs. After the 4th of July weekend, with over ten medevacs and one death from falling, official have closed the area until November, posting officers at both trailheads and offering stiff fines to those caught trespassing in the area.

"The response team transported Joey to Animal Urgent Care in Escondido, where he was treated for heat exhaustion and separating pads. Luckily, Joey responded well to the treatment and was able to return home."

Half a mile down the trail, the dog named Joey collapsed and started panting heavily, a sign of heatstroke.

Just an FYI for anyone heading out that way.
