The City of Ramsey is proud to recognize RM Golf Carts as the 2026 Ramsey Business of the Year.

Located at 7039 Highway 10 NW, RM Golf Carts has been a familiar and growing Ramsey business since 2007. Owner Mark Kaufman started the company out of his garage before relocating to Ramsey for a larger space and the visibility of a major highway location. What began as a small operation has grown into a trusted destination for golf cart sales, service, rentals and customization.

RM Golf Carts offers new and used golf carts, parts, service, rentals and custom-built carts. The company is known for taking on unique projects, including custom limousine-style golf carts, ambulance golf carts for federal prisons, and specialty carts used by medical service providers at concert venues and other large events.

With five employees and a 44-by-77-foot facility, RM Golf Carts continues to evolve alongside the growing demand for golf carts in recreation, business and specialty uses. Customers can rent a golf cart for a day, a season, a full year or another timeframe that fits their needs.

Mark credits the company’s success to hard work, trade shows, social media, educating customers about its products and providing top-notch customer service. A memorable milestone for the business has been its continued growth and expansion over the years, including the opportunity to own the property where the business is located.

RM Golf Carts invites the community to stop in, explore its selection, and discover what the team can build—because “It’s A Great Day to Own a Golf Cart!”

Visit RM Golf Carts Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or online at www.rmgolfcarts.com.

The City of Ramsey extends heartfelt congratulations to RM Golf Carts, Inc. on being named the 2026 Business of the Year! Thank you for your longstanding commitment to excellence and for making Ramsey your home.

Each year, the Ramsey Economic Development Authority selects one outstanding local business to receive the Business of the Year Award, recognizing excellence in innovation, community involvement, and overall contribution to the city. The award is formally presented at the Annual Business Appreciation Event in August.

City Council Highlights – August 25, 2026

Councilmembers in attendance were Kirsten Buscher, Ryan Heineman, Michael Olson, Chris Riley, Dan Specht and Shanna Stewart.

The City Council unanimously passed 16 Consent Agenda items.

Council Business included four cases.

The first case was to Adopt Resolution #26-197 Approving Tax Increment Financing Development Agreement; Ramsey Senior Housing, LLC. Trident Development is proposing to build a 2-story 78-unit Senior Assisted Living building, a 1-story 24-unit Memory Care building and a 4-story 84-unit Independent Living building adjacent to the VA Clinic. The Developer is seeking tax increment financing for the Memory Care and Assisted Living projects. TIF Assistance for $2,350,000 is proposed as a pay-go note to cover eligible project costs. The term of the note is for 18 years. The motion was presented with amendments to strike requirements of the agreement related to Exhibit C, a Subcontractor addendum and add language from Minnesota Statute 16C.285. The motion passed 5 to 1.

The second case was to Adopt Resolution #26-195 Accepting Bids and Awarding Contract for 2026 MSA Pavement Overlay Improvements, Improvement Project #26-02. This project proposes milling and overlaying 173rd Avenue and 175th Avenue between Armstrong Boulevard and Nowthen Boulevard, totaling just over 3 miles. The City received four bids, with the lowest responsible bid coming in 15% below the Engineer’s estimate. Council approved the motion awarding the contract to North Valley Inc. with construction estimated to begin in September.

The third case was to Adopt Ordinance #26-17 Amending Chapter 106 (Zoning Code) Pertaining to Uses in the COR Zoning Districts. Currently, regulations regarding development in the COR zoning districts are split between two documents—City Code Chapter 106 (Zoning Code) and The COR Design Framework. This ordinance proposes to update the use table, which is part of the overall plan to move regulations out of the Framework and into the Zoning Code. Additional changes will come forward at a future date. Council approved the motion.

The last case was to Adopt Ordinance #26-11 Amending Chapters 30 (Nuisances) and 106 (Zoning Code) of City Code Related to Managed Natural Landscapes. The current City Code requires submission of a plan but provides no clear details on the process, next steps, or enforcement of a Managed Natural Landscape. The proposed Ordinance clarifies that the City must approve a management plan. An application packet has also been developed that outlines the specific information required in a management plan for a Managed Natural Landscape. Council approved the ordinance adoption.
