In light of National Police Week last month, RCPD was proud to represent our community and agency in Washington, D.C. at the national police memorial! The event draws thousands of law enforcement professionals and supporters from across the United States to honor the officers who have given their lives in the service of their community, as well as those who still work tirelessly to ensure their communities stay safe.
🌟
Unfortunately since its inception, RCPD has suffered two line of duty deaths in Officer Larry Canfield (EOW: 11/12/08) and Officer Mark Stasyuk (EOW:9/17/18), both of whom are memorialized at the national memorial in Washington, D.C. Their sacrifices are never forgotten, as well as those of hundreds or law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty each year, and help cement our resolve to keeping our community safe!

Recently, RCPD responded to a call for service in regard to a mail theft that had just occurred. The caller related she witnessed an unknown female exit a vehicle and steal mail from a community mailbox. The caller provided a vehicle description and license plate for the suspect's vehicle. RCPD officers quickly responded to the area and located the vehicle, and an enforcement stop was conducted at which time the driver and front seat passenger were detained, pending further investigation.
🌟
Upon searching the vehicle, numerous pieces of opened and unopened mail belonging to other people and locations throughout Rancho Cordova were located. Some of the mail included a passport, financial documents, and other miscellaneous personal mail items.
🌟
The two suspects were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges related to mail theft, and the victims were contacted to have their mail returned.

In support of our recent grant from the California Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), the RCPD POP team conducted a decoy “shoulder tap” operation to enforce liquor laws within our community.
🌟
The goal of these operations is to deter establishments and citizens from selling and/or providing minors with alcohol. These types of operations help keep our community, youth, and businesses safe, and keep our city operating effectively and efficiently by ensuring adherence to California Business & Professions codes!

Our RCPD School Resource Officers (SRO’s) Delapena, Ball and K9 Zoe, recently spent the day at Sunrise Elementary talking to the students about RCPD, law enforcement, looking at their equipment, and talking about staying safe while out and about. The kids had an amazing time talking with the officers and had more than enough questions to keep them occupied!

Thank you to Sunrise Elementary for having us out, and we always look forward to the opportunity to work with the children in our community!👮🏽‍♂️
