🎉 KIDS KORNER GRAND OPENING! 🎨🌱

Saturday, September 26th
8 AM to Noon

Kids Korner is built by kids, for local kids, and we’re ready to celebrate! ❤️

Come experience our new Banana Creek, where kids can walk barefoot through the shallow water, make crafts, paint murals, plant flowers, decorate, and help make Kids Korner their own!

Today was one of those days that reminded me how lucky I am.

Hannah and her volunteer group from Levi’s Strauss came out to help at the garden. We worked, we laughed, and somehow I even ended up riding an abandoned, or at least I’d like to think donated, scooter. 😂

My life is perfect. Dirt under my nails, aching muscles, and a garden I love with all my heart.

I will always help this garden grow and protect it. It’s been a long, dirty road, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

I’ve planted trees I will never see fully mature. I’ve helped build educational programs that will outlive me. And that thought makes me incredibly grateful.

How lucky am I to have The Root 66 Garden in my life?

🐈🌱 Our garden has a few feral cats, and they actually play an important role here! This is Leonard. The garden was his last chance at a happy life. And boy did he get it!

Leonard helps keep the garden free of mice, rats, gophers, and other unwanted critters. They’re part of the garden ecosystem and, when cared for responsibly, can be wonderful little garden helpers.

But every cat deserves a safe place to call home. ❤️

Organizations like Priceless Pets | Animal Shelter & Rescue work hard to help homeless pets find loving families and give them the second chance they deserve.

So if you’re thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, consider adopting a homeless pet. There are so many sweet cats and dogs waiting for someone to choose them. 🐾
