We have endorsed Louisa Davis and Ken Ammann for City Council! We invited all candidates to fill out our questionnaire, and based on their answers we made our endorsement decisions. We primarily endorsed Louisa and Ken for their commitment to transparency at city hall and to listening to their constituents. Read more about our decision and their questionnaire answers here:

(DESERT SUN) Rancho Mirage to begin accepting applications to fill Hobart's seat on council for remainder of term

The Rancho Mirage City Council will appoint someone to fill out the remainder of Dana Hobart's term rather than hold a special election. He resigned on Nov. 19 after two decades on the council.

Applications can be picked up at City Hall or downloaded from the city’s website, ranchomiragca.gov, starting Friday.

They must be filed with the city clerk’s office by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 10.

Applicants then will be interviewed by the City Council during a special meeting on Dec. 14 at City Hall. No time for the meeting was announced, but it will be open to the public.

Hobart’s term expires in November 2022.

The City Council approved the plan for appointment and application created by a subcommittee comprised of Mayor Ted Weill and Mayor Pro Tem Charles Townsend.
