Valhalla Athletics is thrilled to announce the addition of Austin Trammell to our baseball coaching staff as our new Assistant Coach! Coach Trammell brings an incredible wealth of experience and passion to our program. A lifelong baseball player, his impressive career includes playing for Grossmont High School and proudly representing the red, white, and blue on Team USA, where he took the mound to pitch against Australia. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, serving as the pitching coach at his alma mater. While injuries ultimately cut his playing career short, they fueled a deep passion for mentorship. Coach Trammell’s mission is to give back to the next generation of athletes helping them chase their goals, elevate their competitive edge, and grow into exceptional young men. "I believe student athletes are students first," says Coach Trammell. "Academics will always be the top priority, because success off the field is just as important as success on it." We are excited for the future of Valhalla Baseball!

Valhalla High School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Zach Ambrose as the new Head Coach of the Norsemen baseball program. A deeply rooted East County native with extensive experience across every level of the game, Coach Ambrose brings a wealth of knowledge, elite player development expertise, and a passion for building championship culture to Valhalla.

Born and raised in La Mesa, Coach Ambrose’s baseball journey began right here in the community. He was a standout player at Grossmont High School before continuing his collegiate career at Grossmont College. His performance on the field earned him a scholarship to play at San Diego Christian College, capping off a successful playing career.

Following his time on the field, Coach Ambrose transitioned into talent evaluation and high level coaching. He had the distinct opportunity to work as an Associate Scout with the Atlanta Braves organization. During this time, he also served on the coaching staff for the Atlanta Braves Scout Team, where he helped mentor and develop numerous MLB draft selections and current professional players. Coach Ambrose has coached at every tier of the sport, most recently serving on the coaching staff at Grossmont College. Throughout his diverse journey in baseball, he has developed a coaching philosophy centered on holistic player growth.

"Throughout my journey in baseball, I’ve learned that the game is about much more than wins and losses," says Coach Ambrose. "Culture, accountability, attitude, and effort are the foundation of any successful program, and that starts on day one."

"Valhalla has always been a program with a rich tradition," Coach Ambrose added. "I’m beyond excited for the opportunity to be a part of that tradition and help continue building something special. I’d like to thank the Valhalla staff for trusting me with this opportunity. Let’s get to work!"

Valhalla is proud to present their Salutatorian and Valedictorian for the Class of 2026!

👉 Our Valedictorian, Mark Kamel, is graduating with a 4.893 GPA and will major in Physiological Sciences (PreMed). Mark will be attending UCLA in the fall.

👉 Jordan Kattoula is our Salutatorian. He is graduating with a 4.885 GPA and will major in Computer Science at UC San Diego in the fall.

We are honored to announce the Top Tyr Academic Award recipients for the Class of 2026 — our ten highest-achieving seniors in the graduating class. It is no surprise that Valhalla's Tim Cook has been selected as one of GUHSD's 2026 Teacher of the Year. He works tirelessly to deliver engaging and meaningful content, connect to students, and support his colleagues. He is also one of the advisors of NorseCrew, Valhalla's leadership program that helps incoming students transition to high school.
