The Rich County Sheriff’s Office is saddened to report that the diver, Greg Jonas, of West Valley City, Utah, has died as a result of this incident.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones and all those affected by this tragic loss.

🟨 Update | June 13, 2026 | 3:38 p.m. 🟨

The victim, a 56-year-old male, has been transported via air ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital. He had been diving with others in approximately 90-100 feet of water. No additional information regarding his condition is available at this time.

On June 13, 2026, at approximately 1:44 p.m. the Rich County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call for a diving incident in the area of Cisco Beach at Bear Lake.

Rangers from Department of Natural Resources, Rich County Sheriff personnel, Rich County medical units and Intermountain Flight are at the scene.

No further information is available at this time. An update will be provided as soon as possible.

Our duty is to uphold the laws of the United States, the State of Utah and local jurisdictions, while safeguarding the constitutional rights of every citizen. This responsibility also includes protecting the privacy of those involved in any situation by ensuring confidential information remains secure.

We are aware of the concerns surrounding our missing juvenile, Kylie Arellano. Kylie was last seen on May 29, 2025 at approximately 10:52 p.m. at her home in Garden City, Utah.

Sheriff Dale Stacey and all members of the Rich County Sheriff’s Office remain fully committed to Kylie’s safe return. We continue to actively pursue all leads and are working closely with local, state, and federal agencies in ongoing search efforts.

We also want to address misinformation suggesting that members of the Sheriff’s Office do not care about Kylie. Nothing could be further from the truth. We deeply value community support, appreciate all the efforts to help locate Kylie, and remain dedicated to bringing her home safely.

The Rich County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with JTTF, a federal task force, continues to search for Kylie Arellano, a 16-year-old female who was reported missing on 5/30/2025.

Kylie’s information and photos have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and into NamUS (namus.gov).

The Rich County Sheriff’s Office is asking that if anyone has any information regarding Kylie’s location, please call 435-793-2285.

🟨 Citizen Alert | 12/11/2025 9:00 PM 🟨

On 12/11/2025, between 6:00 and 6:30 PM, an adult male entered an unlocked house without knocking. He surprised a juvenile who was in the home. This occurred in the Laketown area.

The man does not live at the house and the residents do not know him.

The man is described as a white male, age unknown - described as “not old.” He has a short beard and was wearing a darker colored shirt, and possibly denim pants.

The Rich County Sheriff’s Office is asking citizens to keep an eye out for this individual and please keep all doors and windows locked.

If anyone sees the described individual, please contact the Rich County Sheriff’s Office at 435-793-2285. Rich County case number 25-R1054.

On 12/8/2025 at approximately 4:15 AM, the 22 year old female victim was rescued and is safe. She was evaluated at the scene. She was not injured and was able to go home.

Rich County Search and Rescue, Cache County Search and Rescue, and members of the Utah Department of Natural Resources worked throughout the night to reach her location.

Initially, the weather prevented the Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter from responding. At 4:15 AM, the Utah DPS helicopter and its team airlifted the victim to safety.

🟥 Media Release | 12/7/2025: 9:20 PM 🟥

On 12/7/2025 at approximately 4:35 PM, the Rich County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 text from a 22 year old female.

The female had been skiing with a 20 year old male. The female fell into some trees and slid into a ravine.

The female skier said she had been in the ravine area since approximatley 1:00 PM and had lost contact with the male skier.

The male skier was located at 6:58 PM and is safe.

Rich County Search and Rescue is on scene with a ground crew, snowmobiles, all terrain vehicles and a drone crew.

A rescue operation is ongoing. The female skier is located and in difficult terrain. Rescuers have had visual contact via a drone.

A Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter is attempting to respond to the scene. The weather is a possible issue.

Cache County Search and Rescue have been requested for assistance.

Ground crews are attempting to reach the female via snowmobile and snowshoe.

Information will be updated when available.
