🥰Exciting News! This is a long post, but I wanted to be sure everyone has a chance to read our posting to the newspaper, even if you don't get the paper!! Many of you already know, but it is exciting to make an official announcement!
🕍Randolph Methodist Church to be the New Community Library!
The City of Randolph is pleased to announce an exciting new chapter for our community: the Randolph Public Library will be relocating to the vacant Methodist Church building! The city purchased the building at minimal cost with the goal of preserving an important piece of Randolph’s history while providing space for library growth and community programs.
During the winter when the church was in transition before purchase, an unexpected water leak caused extensive damage throughout the building. However, thanks to a group of volunteers, all debris has now been removed, leaving us with a clean slate and a fresh start for restoration.
The library will be moving into the spacious basement level, which offers an ideal layout for expanded programming. The large open area and full kitchen will allow us to host more events, classes, and activities for all ages. Meanwhile, the main sanctuary will remain preserved exactly as it was during church services for now. In time, this beautiful historic space may also be made available for broader community use.
We are pleased to share that The Community Foundation has already provided two generous grants to support much of the renovation process, with additional funding opportunities being actively pursued. However, one of the most urgent needs is the repair of the building’s 5,000 square foot roof, which sustained major damage while uninsured during the spring of 2025. To address this, we will be hosting multiple community fundraisers in the coming months as well as looking into a potential matching grant award.
To support the most urgent need—the replacement of the building’s roof—a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 25th, from 5:00–7:00 PM at the Randolph Community Building. The meal will be offered as a free will donation, with a minimum plate donation of $10 and $7 for children ages 12 and under. All proceeds will go directly toward the purchase of a new roof. Take out meals will be available.
During the event, the church will be open for public viewing. We invite you to stop in and see the progress that has been made, as well as the repairs that are still ahead.
It is our hope that these combined efforts—grants, fundraising, volunteer work, and careful planning—will allow us to save this meaningful structure and give it new life for generations to come. The project has been designed to place minimal burden on the city budget while maximizing community benefit.
We look forward to sharing more updates as work progresses and are grateful for the continued support of our incredible community. Together, we are building something truly special for Randolph’s future.
