Wildfire season is here πŸ”₯

Wildfire season is here!

SPECIAL NOTE TO REC VEHICLE DRIVERS: Per state law, the DNR does not shut down ATV/UTV trails. Some towns or counties can do that under local ordinances, which would be more restrictive than state law.

The DNR has already responded to nearly 400 fires this year, which have burned around 800 acres. Burn permits will be suspended in most counties over the next several days due to dry conditions. The public is urged to avoid all burning until conditions improve.

Breezy conditions and low humidity are in the forecast. This coupled with all the dry grasses and leaf litter on the ground can lead to an increase in the potential for wildfires. Vegetation is greening up nicely in southern Wisconsin, but expect to see high to very high fire danger over the northern two-thirds of the state.

The greatest concern are the sandy soil areas where pine trees live. Wisconsin is entering a time called the "spring dip." Moisture content in pine needles is low while the starch content is high. This combination, which is not visible to the naked eye, means that pine trees are more likely to catch fire during a wildfire and crown fires (fires in the treetops) are possible. The timing of this phenomenon coincides with the greening up of ground vegetation and leafing out of trees.

We appreciate everyone who takes the time to obtain a DNR burn permit. But, it’s critical this time of year to make sure you check the daily burn restrictions online after 9 a.m. each day by calling 1-888-WIS-BURN (947-2876) or at: https://apps.dnr.wi.gov/wisburn/ #/BurnRestrictions to see if burning is allowed.

DNR burn restrictions and fire danger change daily. Follow the rules on the permit, including heeding burn times and size limitations. Never leave your fire unattended and call 911 immediately if your burn escapes your control.

Remember – even when the flames die down, your fire is not necessarily completely out. Embers can remain hot for days and have the potential to reignite. Use lots of water, drown, stir and repeat until cold. Go back and check again later for any remaining smoke or embers.

Thanks for helping us prevent wildfires!

May 10 to 16, 2026 is National Police Week. It is a time to recognize the service and professionalism of law enforcement officers across the country. Their work is demanding, often unpredictable, and essential to the safety and stability of our communities.

Randolph is fortunate to work with multiple agencies to include the Randolph Police Department, Dodge County Sheriff's Office and Columbia County Sheriff's Office WI. These officers demonstrate skill, integrity, and a strong commitment to their responsibilities every day. They respond when called, manage complex situations, and serve with a steady focus on public safety.

Thank you! We appreciate you, and everything you do to keep our community safe.

πŸ›΄πŸ’¨ could = πŸš‘ πŸ₯ 🩼

If your children use an electric scooter, please talk with them about operating safely and respecting the rules of the roadway.

We have been seeing many children/teens on electric scooters who are driving recklessly and endangering themselves and others: not obeying stop signs, bolting out in front of cars, not wearing a helmet, wearing earbuds and not paying attention to their surroundings, etc. If your children use an electric scooter, please talk with them about operating safely and respecting the rules of the roadway.

Of course, this applies to bicyclists also, but electric scooters have the ability to go much faster, and more speed often means more risks. We want everyone to have a SAFE and happy summer!

Behind every successful Brat Fry is a team of volunteers, and we have the best ones!

Our hearts are full after seeing such a fantastic turnout at our annual Brat Fry! The smell of brats was great, but the support from our community was even better. Seeing neighbors, families, and friends come together means the world to our firefighters. Your generosity allows us to continue training and maintaining the equipment needed to keep Randolph safe!

Thank you to everyone who cooked, served, sold and cleaned up. Big shout out to Detjen's Piggly Wiggly-Randolph for hosting us. Thank you!!! πŸš’πŸŒβ€οΈ

🚨 WATCH vs WARNING β€” What It Means for You 🚨

Watch and Warning mean different things, and understanding the difference helps you respond quickly when it matters.

When a watch is issued, it’s time to get ready. Review your plan and make sure everyone in your household knows what to do and where to go.

If a warning is issued, it is time to act. Take shelter immediately in the safest spot available and stay there until the threat passes.

Having a plan ahead of time helps you and the people around you respond with confidence when it matters most.

Make sure you have more than one way to receive alerts.
