Today, the Silver Creek FD Family pauses to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a time to slow down and reflect on the sacrifice made by those who never made it home. Their courage, dedication, and willingness to serve are the reason we continue to enjoy the freedoms we have today. As a fire department, we understand the meaning of service, but today is about recognizing a sacrifice far greater than words can fully express.

From all of us at the Silver Creek Fire Department, we honor the fallen, remember their sacrifice, and remain forever grateful. Never forgotten.

This past Friday, Isaac Makar graduated from Random Lake High School. Isaac is a firefighter with the Silver Creek Fire Department, and we are proud to recognize this milestone. Isaac got his start with our department through the Explorer program and officially joined Silver Creek Fire Department when he turned 18. While many students were enjoying their weekends off, Isaac was spending his time taking fire service training, including Entry Level Firefighter, and working toward becoming part of the emergency services world.

Isaac is one of several young members in our department who bring energy, curiosity, and a willingness to jump in wherever help is needed. He asks great questions, learns from those around him, and represents the kind of dedication we love to see in the next generation of firefighters. Graduating high school is a big accomplishment on its own. Doing it while also committing time to the fire service says a lot about Isaac’s character and work ethic.

From the Silver Creek Fire Department Family, congratulations, Isaac. We are proud of you and grateful to have you as part of our team!

Congratulations to Maddy Hartmann on graduating last weekend from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with her Bachelor of Science in Communication with highest honors!

Maddy is a member of the Silver Creek Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and we are proud to recognize her for this great accomplishment. She was also honored with the Chancellor’s Award, which makes an already special milestone even more impressive.

Around Silver Creek, the Hartmann name is part of the fire department family. Maddy is the daughter of Assistant Chief Paul Hartmann and Auxiliary member Angie Hartmann, and the sister of SCFD firefighter Brad Hartmann. It truly is a family affair, and we are proud to celebrate with them.

Maddy, congratulations on your graduation, your award, and your next chapter as an Admissions Counselor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Your Silver Creek Fire Department family wishes you all the best!

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources currently lists Sheboygan County at HIGH fire danger. While the most critical conditions are in northern and western Wisconsin, including Red Flag Warnings for several Northwoods counties, we still need everyone here in Sheboygan County to be careful. Dry vegetation, warmer temperatures, and gusty winds can quickly turn a small outdoor fire into a much larger problem.

- Even a “controlled” burn can become uncontrollable with a small shift in the wind.
- Grass, leaves, pine needles, and brush can dry out quickly, even after recent rain.
- Please use good judgment. If conditions seem risky, delay your burn for another day.

If you are heading up north this weekend, be especially aware of local restrictions. Several counties have suspended DNR burning permits, and outdoor burning, including campfires, is being discouraged in areas with critical fire danger.

Here at home, if you must burn, watch your fire closely and have a reliable way to quickly extinguish it. If possible, consider holding off until conditions improve.

REMEMBER: If you live in Sheboygan County, you must notify the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center at (920) 459-3112 before you start your burn.

Happy Mother’s Day, one day late, from all of us at the Silver Creek Fire Department! We may be a little behind on the post, but we are definitely not behind in our appreciation. To all the moms, grandmas, stepmoms, mother-type figures, and everyone who fills that role in someone’s life, thank you for everything you do. Your support, patience, kindness, and steady presence mean more than words can say. We are also thinking of those whose moms are no longer with them, and those for whom Mother’s Day may be a difficult day. We hope you were able to find a moment of comfort, remembrance, or gratitude this weekend. From our Family to yours, Happy Mother’s Day.
