Hey, Rantoul!
It was about 2 years ago we started running medical calls for the first time, in a long time... We have learned many lessons, had some triumphs, and worked with great patients, and other true professionals in the EMS services. We are greatful to the Village Hall of Rantoul, IL, our Mayor, and especially the citizens of our great community for giving us this opportunity! We will continue to serve you the best of our ability! Carle Health METCAD 9-1-1 - Champaign County, Illinois

This week, we proudly recognize the dedicated professionals consisting of First Responders, Firefighters, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Police Officers, Emergency Medical Dispatchers, Administrators, Educators, Nurses, Emergency Physicians, trained members of the public, and other out-of-hospital medical care providers who stand ready every day to save lives and serve our community.

Great safety tip here from the ISFM. You can’t be too careful…

🔌⚡ Small habit. Big safety impact.

Unplug your phone chargers when they’re not in use!

Even when not connected, chargers still draw power and can overheat over time—especially if damaged or low quality.

🔥 Help reduce fire risk
💡 Save energy
🔌 Protect your home

Take a second, unplug your charger, and stay safe!

🪻 Spring Cleaning Season is Here! 🧽✨

As you refresh your home, remember: always read the label on cleaning products before using them.

✔️ Follow all directions carefully
✔️ Use in well-ventilated areas
✔️ Wear gloves when recommended
✔️ Store products safely and out of reach of children and pets

⚠️ Never mix cleaning supplies unless the label specifically says it’s safe. Some combinations can create dangerous fumes that can harm you and your family.

A few extra minutes reading the label can help keep everyone safe this spring! 🌼🏡

Hey, Rantoul! Great tip from the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

🌱 Before you grab your battery-powered mower, trimmer, or leaf blower, remember that lithium-ion batteries need proper care to stay safe.

🔥 Lithium-Ion Battery Safety Tips for Yard Equipment:

• Use only the charger designed for that battery
• Stop using the battery if it becomes damaged, swollen, or overheats
• Charge batteries on a hard, flat surface away from combustible materials
• Do not leave batteries charging unattended or overnight
• Store batteries indoors in a cool, dry place – not in sheds, garages, or vehicles exposed to extreme heat or cold
• Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash – recycle them at approved collection sites

Damaged or improperly charged batteries can cause fires. A few simple steps can help keep your home and garage safe while you tackle those yard projects.

🚒❄️ Water & Ice Rescue Training ❄️🚒

Ice and cold-water rescues are among the most hazardous and time-sensitive emergencies firefighters may face during winter conditions. Regular hands-on training ensures our team can respond quickly, safely, and effectively—protecting both the public and our emergency responders.
