If you are looking to dispose of a TV - the landfill will take it!
Unfortunately, there aren't any options for recycling TV's in Rapid City.

If you have a landfill coupon, that will cover up to 1000lbs!

If you do NOT have a landfill coupon, you are still welcome to come out!
We charge by weight - $73/ton with a minimum of $10 + tax per load.

🚨 Let's talk about lithium batteries! 🚨
These batteries are SO dangerous 😫 For us AND for you!
Please please please don't throw away lithium batteries!! These batteries can overheat easily and it is highly likely that it will get punctured or smashed during the burial process. If these batteries get punctured, they can catch fire or explode.
We want to keep YOU and our employees safe! We don’t want one of these to get punctured/overheat
a) Inside of your garbage can that's next to your garage or house!
b) Inside of a garbage truck
c) Inside of the pit where we have employees driving heavy machinery around
d) Inside of the building that we sort recycled material in
Lithium batteries are found in electronics like cell phones, laptops, tablets, different va**ng devices, e-cigarettes, etc. There will be a warning label on the battery if it’s lithium and cannot be thrown away.
Places that you can take lithium batteries or alkaline batteries (AA, AAA, etc) - please call to see if there is a charge!
✨ Interstate Battery recycles ALL batteries (takes all sizes of lithium batteries - including laptop & motorcycle/kid jeep lithium batteries)
✨ Batteries and Bulbs Plus - They recycle ALL lithium batteries (takes all sizes of lithium batteries - including laptop & motorcycle/kid jeep lithium batteries)
.
We really appreciate if household (alkaline - AA, AAA, etc) batteries are recycled as well, but they aren’t as dangerous as the others.
PLEASE message us or give us a call if you have any questions on how to dispose of something or if you just aren't sure if you should throw it away in your can!

Last week, our drivers picked up over 26 TONS of recycling from curbside! 💪
That’s about the weight of about 13 cars 🚗 kept out of the Landfill 😲
Thank you for recycling!
By recycling - you are sending LESS waste up to the landfill to be buried. Instead, it’s recycled into something new like park benches or more aluminum cans.
The MORE that we recycle, the more landfill space we have for ACTUAL garbage.

From our friends up North 🔥🔥
Please please please do not throw away any rechargeable batteries!
Lithium batteries can be hiding in anything. Items that are rechargeable, watch batteries, small remotes, etc.
Look for that small symbol that has an X through a garbage can. That tells you that you cannot throw it away!

Batteries can be taken to Batteries Plus or Interstate Battery for disposal!

BELLE FOURCHE — Since Belle Fourche Landfill Superintendent Shawn Gallagher took over operations in 2024, there have been 5 fires that required fire department response.

Compost is basically gold.
For your lawn 💛🌱
Believe it or not, one of the best ways to help your yard survive the heat isn't watering more... it's improving your soil.
Compost can hold up to five times its weight in water 😲
That means your soil holds onto moisture longer, giving your lawn a better chance during these hot summer days.
So what can you do?
When the temperatures cool down, rake a ¼–½ inch layer of compost over your lawn. This "compost blanket" helps improve your soil, adds valuable nutrients, and can even reduce water runoff. 💦
A quick note: Our compost is a great choice for lawns but not for flower beds or vegetable gardens due to the herbicide contamination. Compost will help your lawn flourish!

We've received a few calls recently, so here's a friendly reminder!
Our recycling schedule is no longer based on the 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th weeks of the month. Before the new recycling program began in May, we simplified the schedule after hearing feedback that months with a 5th week could be confusing.
Your collection day hasn't changed—it's simply every other week instead of following the 1st/3rd or 2nd/4th week format.
Here's the August calendar for a visual!
