Let’s support the Badlands National Park Dark Skies! Simply turn off your outdoor lights, reduce them, use warm colored lights, or change them to downward facing lights on direct paths only. If we all made a few changes, we can help reduce light pollution and see those stars better! Check out our website for more information: https://www.rapidcitysustainability.com/dark-skies
and follow for more events and ideas.

🌲 That's a wrap on the 2026 Earth Day Trail Challenge! 🌎💚

Wow... we are officially OUT of pins! 🤯

When we launched this year's challenge, we hoped people would get outside, explore our local trails, and celebrate Earth Day. We never imagined the incredible response from our community.

To everyone who participated—thank you!
Your enthusiasm made this our biggest and most successful Trail Challenge yet.

To those who completed the challenge but weren't able to receive a pin before we ran out, we are truly sorry. We know many of you were looking forward to that keepsake, the overwhelming response exceeded all of our expectations!

Most importantly, this challenge was always about getting outside, connecting with nature, and appreciating the beautiful trails in our community—and together, we accomplished exactly that.

Thank you for making this year's challenge such an incredible success. We can't wait to see what next year brings! 💚🥾🌿
