We give thanks to all the people over the past 15 years who have supported the Hope Center! As we permanently dissolve our organization we are grateful to share our remaining resources with four other non-profit organizations that are doing amazing work in our community.
When the board discussed where our funds should go basic needs of food, housing, medical care and basic supplies were the things we kept coming back to. So we have chosen to gift our remaining funds to the following organizations:
Trinity Lutheran Church to support their food pantry
Open Heart UMC to support their food pantry
Midwest Street Medicine to support their work in Rapid City
Passages to support all the work they do
We encourage you to learn more about these organizations and support the services they provide to those who need it most.
God's blessings to each of you in the coming year!

Dear friends,
As you know, since December of 2023 we have been without a building. In the past two years we have continued to meet for weekly devotions every Wednesday and done our best to stay connected with our former guests and new friends. The Board of Directors has been keeping a pulse on the services being offered by other local ministries and groups with hopes of finding a way to reopen our center in a new location. Unfortunately, we have been unable to make that hope a reality and the Board has made the difficult decision to dissolve our organization and permanently close the Hope Center.
Since 2010 the Hope Center’s mission has been to put God’s love into action by enhancing dignity and hope as we build bridges out of poverty. While we wish we could continue to do this in an official capacity we know that we have completed the mission God set before us and it’s time to pass the torch to others He has called on to do this work. We have chosen to donate all our remaining funds to four local organizations that we believe align with our mission and are doing amazing work in our community. We will be highlighting those organizations in a future post. We will continue to meet for weekly devotions on Wednesdays from 8-9am at Trinity Lutheran for those who want to stay connected.
We thank you for your support over the years through your donations, volunteer hours, prayers and so much more. We know that the heart of the Hope Center lives on through all of you and the kindness and compassion you show your fellow humans. God’s blessings to you all.
-The Hope Center Board of Directors

Missing several of our “regulars” in devotion this morning, but we had an amazing time of laughter and encouragement with one another. There were about 10 who chose not to be in the photo. One person jokingly yelled out “warrants”. 😂
Devotions is the best part of my week! We meet every Wednesday morning from 8-9 in the lobby of Trinity Lutheran. All are welcome.

(This is a post from my personal page - Melanie Timm - hoping it finds it’s way to the woman who stole what little money he had for groceries this month! BE BETTER THAN THAT!)

Those of you that have connection to the Hope Center - Rapid City know how important Wyland is to me and many others. Yesterday I was contacted by a community person who said that Wyland was at their church looking for me. He seemed confused, and thought he and I were going shopping. This was not something we had planned and in fact I have not spoken to him in a few weeks. Thinking it was possible he had me confused with someone else, because there are others that support and care for him that also take him shopping, not much was thought about it. This person was going to try to assist him in getting back home. Before that could be arranged, one of his female relatives came up visiting with him and they walked away together. Minutes before 7 am this morning, another person started texting me. They saw Wyland (“appearing to be intoxicated”) by the old HOPE Center. This was alarming and a huge red flag to me, because he has been sober for many years. I set out to find him. Thankfully, God intervened and almost 11 am, I found him crossing a very busy intersection. He could barely walk! I pulled over and assisted him to my car. He was seeing things, exhausted, and very upset! He explained that the female relative who came up to him the day before robbed him! He had been walking for hours trying to find her. 😡He had just got his social security check, rode the bus and walked across town to withdraw his grocery and a little bit of spending money for the month. Apparently she took it and ran off with someone in a brown truck. This is NOT a post asking for money!! Wyland is safe, has groceries, and is much better after some rest. This is a post thanking everyone who was paying attention, who reached out, and who tried to assist him. Please watch out for one another. Take the few minutes to follow up, help out, ask questions, offer a ride, etc. More importantly - stop being selfish, mean, ignoring the most vulnerable, etc 😡 I’m so tired of trying to clean up the destruction created by others!

It’s been a tradition over the past several years to do a “Selfie Celebration” at Hills Alive in Memorial Park. This was started by our guest Miss Marjorie Little Eagle, who LOVES coming to this Christian music festival every year. Unfortunately she is unable to attend this year, but I know she will want to see pictures. 😁 So we will keep the tradition going for Margie. ❤️

What a joyous occasion! Miss Marjorie, her daughter Aveline and grand daughter Avianna joined Susie and I for lunch today. Nothing special to celebrate, other than the opportunity to be in each others’ company. So blessed that the HOPE Center brought us into each other’s lives! 🫶🏼
