90 years young and still "delivering on its promise to power and empower rural America!"⚡️🙌🏼 Visit the link in the original post to learn about the history of America's Electric Cooperatives and NRECA.

West River Electric is proud to be part of the legacy built on community, service, and connection.

Ninety years after the Rural Electrification Act was signed into law, electric cooperatives are still delivering on its promise to power and empower rural America.

To this day, the longstanding partnership between electric co-ops and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service continues to be essential as co-ops work to power rural communities, expand broadband access and build a better tomorrow.

On May 20, we celebrate 90 years of cooperative commitment to serving rural America.

Tyson Selby, a lineman at our Enning outpost, finished his Apprenticeship and has been promoted to Journeyman Lineman.🎉 To reach this milestone, one must complete line school from an accredited lineman school and complete the four-year apprenticeship continuing education course through Northwest Lineman’s College.

Within that four-year time span, 8,000 verified on-the-job training hours, documented through the Department of Labor, must be met as well. West River Electric has an apprenticeship committee to ensure progress is being made and they meet requirements. If one fails to meet a requirement, they could be held back from their next step towards completing their apprenticeship.

We would like to congratulate Tyson on his hard work and for his commitment to serving the membership.👏🏼⚡️

In May, we recognize National Electrical Safety Month to raise awareness about reducing electrically related fires, injuries and fatalities. Here are a few important safety tips to keep in mind:

•Never use electrical equipment near water.
•Check all light bulbs to ensure the wattage is safe and suitable for the fixture.
•Extension cords are for temporary use only; never run them under rugs, through walls or across doorways.
•Do not plug too many devices into a single outlet or power strip.
