We encourage all those who have lost someone to a crime of violence to join us on Tuesday, September 22, as we observe the Day of Remembrance and honor the memory of those whose lives were taken too soon.

If you would like, please bring a photo of your loved one with you as we honor and remember them. You can also bring a small picture of your loved one to place on our permanent display.

We will gather for a candlelight vigil and say their names during our annual bell-ringing ceremony, taking time to remember each life, each name and the people who continue to carry their memory.

Tuesday, September 22 | 6:30 p.m.
West Lawn of the Pennington County Courthouse

All are welcome.

On behalf of the men and women of the Rapid City Police Department & Pennington County Sheriff's Office, we extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, Attorney General’s Office, and our fellow law enforcement community following the passing of Special Agent Quincy Kjerstad.

Special Agent Kjerstad was a dedicated public servant whose commitment to protecting the citizens of South Dakota left a lasting impact on our state and local law enforcement family. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our brothers and sisters at DCI during this difficult time.

Our collective sympathies are with Special Agent Kjerstad’s family, friends, and colleagues as we mourn this profound loss together.
