GFP provides sustainable outdoor recreational opportunities through responsible management of our state’s parks, fisheries and wildlife by fostering partnerships, cultivating stewardship and safely connecting people with the outdoors. Free hands-on exhibits, a 4,600 gallon freshwater aquarium and over 1.5 miles of nature trails.

Here is an incredible opportunity to get after some birds!

This is a free event on September 26th and 27th open to adults interested in hunting and the outdoors. Preference will be given to those with little-to-no hunting experience. All meals, shotguns, ammo, hunter orange, and lodging are provided. Small game licenses will NOT be provided and it is the responsibility of participants to obtain one prior to the weekend.

We hope you're ready to hit the field for the upcoming season! We know sometimes things come up, and if your hunting plans change we wanted to provide you a reminder on our new returned license policy.

To be eligible for a refund, licenses must be returned by the established deadlines listed in the below table. If the season is not listed in the table, the license must be returned prior to the start of that respective season.

The deadline for elk, deer, bighorn sheep, and antelope licenses is Saturday, August 1.

Hunters returning limited draw licenses will be a charged a fee, $10 for residents and $30 for nonresidents, and will not be eligible to apply in subsequent draws for that same season.

Hunters who meet these return deadlines will have their license refunded and preference points reinstated.

In larger situations, such as disease outbreaks, flooding, or other natural events, eligible hunters would be able to return their license for no fee, have their preference points reinstated, and be eligible for subsequent draws.
