Well, yesterday was fun wasn’t it! As we get further into the summer season, it’s very important to remain weather aware, especially during storms like we saw yesterday. After the tornado warning was cancelled for Portage County, we noticed a number of comments on our post regarding the outdoor warning sirens.
It’s very important that you do not rely on these outdoor warning sirens to be your only method for receiving alerts. If you’re looking for a more analog way to receive alerts in a very technological society, we suggest getting a hand-crank weather radio. This type of radio even comes in handy when there’s a power outage in the area as well.
The PC EMA uses social media platforms like Facebook, and a free downloadable app to reach a number of residents, and sometimes even communities in surrounding counties. During events like yesterday’s tornado warning, we tend to see an increase in new faces on our page.
