What will the levy pay for?

Placement costs for children in foster homes, group homes, and residential treatment facilities; this cost increased by $624,576.38 from 2019 to 2020

The new Kinship Support Program required under Senate Bill 310 which provides financial support to kinship caregivers to help care for their minor loved ones

CARES hotline > 24-hour child abuse/neglect reporting hotline for concerned citizens

Investigating suspected child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect

Licensing foster/adoptive homes

Supportive Services for Reunification and Emergency services to support family crisis such as trauma evaluations, counseling, drug and alcohol assessments, parenting education, therapeutic services, and referrals for other basic needs

Facilitate the adoption of children who are eligible
Remove the Portage County Job & Family Services hiring freeze

Issue #1 is based on the fair market value of a $100k house that would cost $17.50 a year or $1.46 a month.

To put that in perspective:

Gallon of 2% Milk at Walmart = $2.90

Gallon of Meijer Gas = $2.62

Door Dash Delivery Fee = $2.99

Small McDonalds French Fry = $1.89

Record Courier Unlimited Digital Access = $39.00/year

Disney+ Subscription = $7.99/Month

Side of Chipotle Guacamole = $2.25
