Town of Selleck

Town of Selleck What is the Town of Selleck? In the 1920’s Selleck was considered the largest inland logging mill in Washington State.

Although the mill slipped beneath the waves of time and decay long ago, the residential area of the town remains as a freeze frame from the past. The quiet residential area consists of 20 homes laid out in rows. These homes were built of solid timbers for the families of the mill employees around 1910. Today, the homes are owned by a small corporation and rented to the public to provide revenue to

pay for the continued maintenance of the buildings – insuring that this part of Northwest history we not be lost. Also surviving is the old theater building and the Schoolhouse. Because it contains the largest concentration of original "company town" structures in a relatively unaltered condition in western Washington, it was designated as a National Historic District and a King County Landmark. Location: Selleck is located about 25 miles Southeast of Washington State’s largest city, Seattle. In addition, it is located 8 miles east of Maple Valley, Washington - at the end of the Hwy 516 (Kent-Kangly Road). The community enjoys the solitude and protection of being nestled against the beautiful Cascade Mountains and surrounded on three sides by the timber lands it once logged - which are now part of the Seattle watershed and State and National forests.
