Greetings STMS Families,
We wanted to inform you that we had a couple of health related incidents today that may have caused some concern with students. First, we had a student vomit in a bathroom, and our custodian and nurse, in appropriate measures wore some protective gear to avoid any possible contamination to themselves at work. That sight may have caused a concern to a 12-14 year old who saw them. Soon after, we had an unrelated situation in another class that required us to take precaution and call for first responders to support a different student with a different health concern. This could also cause concerns, especially if a child thought the two situations were connected.
Both of these cases are rare at school on any given day, but today they came together within the same window of a couple of hours. The odds of this happening together are small, but it also speaks to our amazing nurse, Gina Holcomb, and teaching and custodial staff to serve a large middle school with issues sometimes happening at the same time.
If your students have any questions or concerns, we hope this information can provide families with enough information to calm any worries, but also protect the private medical information of the student, families, and staff involved.
