Yesterday, Mrs. Haines's math class had the opportunity for a real-world math problem. The school is looking to purchase a floor for the gaga pit, and students were challenged to calculate how much flooring is needed. The students learned that the gaga pit is a 12-sided shape called a dodecagon. Students came up with the idea to decompose the dodecagon into triangles and find the area of the triangles. Finally, they determined how much area one box of flooring covered and made a recommendation for the total order, including extra for future repairs. It was a great day for real-world math!

Admission is $5 with concessions available. Students will be entering and exiting through the outer door of the art room near the front of the school.
