BURN BAN LIFTED

The cease-and-desist order for outdoor burning in Richland Parish has been lifted effective immediately, August 27, 2026.

Residents may resume outdoor burning; however, we ask everyone to continue using caution and never leave a fire unattended.

PUBLIC NOTICE – SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident involving an individual who approached an elderly resident at her home claiming he was there to discuss Medicare.

During the encounter, the individual asked to see the resident’s Medicare card. After he left the residence, she discovered that her Medicare card was missing.

We are asking anyone who may have recently been contacted at their home by an individual claiming to represent Medicare or offering to discuss Medicare services or benefits to please contact the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Residents are reminded to never allow someone you do not know into your home. Do not provide your Medicare card, Social Security number, banking information, or other personal information to an unsolicited visitor.

FUGITIVE CAPTURED

Chardarious Jackson, who has been wanted by the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with the June 14 2026 homicide investigation on Tuscany Way, was captured early this morning.

Jackson had remained at large since June 18, 2026 when warrants were issued for his arrest. His capture was the result of a joint operation involving the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, Monroe Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service.

Jackson is charged with Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Flight from an Officer.

Omar Abduni Frost remains at large and is still wanted in connection with this investigation.

Anyone with information regarding Frost’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 728-2071 or Crime Stoppers of North Delta at (318) 388-CASH (2274).

We would like to thank the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, Monroe Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for their assistance and continued cooperation.

The investigation remains ongoing.

HUNTERS: Please think twice before taking a shot at a dove perched on a power or fiber-optic line. Those cables carry electricity, internet, and phone service to homes and businesses throughout our communities. One shot can cause serious damage, disrupt service for your neighbors, and potentially put you in violation of the law.

It’s not worth the fine. It’s not worth the damage. And it’s definitely not worth disrupting someone’s power or internet.

Burn Ban In Effect Immediately

BURN BAN – EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
A cease-and-desist order for all private outdoor burning in Richland Parish has been issued effective immediately, August 21, 2026.
The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.
Please refrain from outdoor burning and help us reduce the risk of fires throughout the parish.
Violation of the burn ban may result in a $500 fine and/or 6 months in jail.

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office is renewing its request for the public’s assistance in locating Chardarious Jackson, who is wanted in connection with a homicide.

Anyone with information regarding Jackson’s current whereabouts is urged to contact the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers of North Delta at (318) 388-CASH (2274).

If you know where Jackson is, do not attempt to approach or apprehend him. Contact law enforcement immediately.

On August 17, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Eunice Street in Mangham in reference to a reported stabbing.

The investigation determined that the suspect arrived at the residence and began causing a disturbance. During the incident, the suspect forced entry into the residence, located a male victim inside a bathroom, and a physical confrontation followed. The victim sustained a stab wound to the abdomen and was transported to a local hospital.

Investigators also determined that an active protective order was in place prohibiting the suspect from having contact with a female resident of the home.

As a result of the investigation, the following individual was arrested:

DOB: 04/07/1978

1 count – Violation of a Protective Order
1 count – Home Invasion
1 count – Attempted Second Degree Murder

Washington is being held at the Richland Parish Detention Center with no bond.

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed home invasion that occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. today at a residence on Bailey Road in Start.

Two masked individuals wearing hooded clothing forced their way into the residence. One suspect held an occupant at gunpoint while the second suspect searched through the residence and took property before both fled the scene.

Based on information gathered during the preliminary investigation, investigators believe this was a targeted incident and not a random act. There is no information at this time indicating a broader threat to residents in the area.

Both suspects were described as black males. The investigation remains active, and additional information will be released as appropriate.

Anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Bailey Road area around the time of the incident, or who has information that could assist investigators, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of North Delta at 318-388-CASH 2274 or the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-728-2071.

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office was honored to serve as a Presenting Sponsor of the Delhi Community Health Center’s 10th Annual Back-to-School Block Party.

Thank you to Delhi Hospital & Clinics for hosting another outstanding event dedicated to the children and families of our community. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as everyone enjoyed games, giveaways, school supplies, and fellowship before the new school year begins.

We are grateful for every organization, volunteer, and community partner who helped make this event a success. Investing in our children is an investment in the future of Richland Parish.

As a new school year begins, the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office wishes all students, teachers, school staff, and parents a safe and successful year!
Our School Resource Officers will once again be on campuses throughout Richland Parish, building positive relationships with students while helping provide a safe learning environment.
As you’re traveling our roads, please remember:
Slow down in school zones and obey the posted speed limits.
Stop for school buses when required by law.
Be especially alert for children who may unexpectedly cross the street or run to and from the bus.
Their safety depends on all of us staying focused behind the wheel.

If you see or hear something concerning involving one of our schools, you can quickly and discreetly submit a tip directly through the app.
