The Reading Police Department is hosting a FREE Car Seat Installation & Safety Check with trained officers available to help parents and caregivers make sure their little ones are riding safely.

Yesterday morning, officers and their families had the honor of serving as buddies for the North Reading Challenger Baseball League at Hunt Field. This league enables children with physical and developmental challenges the opportunity to play baseball and enjoy the experience of being part of a team.

We had an absolute blast playing with the kids and seeing the excitement on their faces throughout the game! Many home runs were hit yesterday!

Thank you to all of the officers who participated in this great day: Deputy Chief Christine Amendola, Lt. Pat Silva, Sgt. Scott Craven, Officer Michelle Halloran, School Resource Officer Matthew Vatcher, Officer Timothy Barrett, Officer Shiloh Clark, Officer Amr Hassan, and Officer Zack Castiglione.

Thank you to the North Reading Challenger Baseball League for allowing us to be part of such a special day. We look forward to doing it again next year! ⚾💙

Just another day at the office!

Today, Chief Clark and Officer Catanzano responded to Hunt Memorial Field after receiving a report of a snapping turtle that had become trapped in a fence near the dugouts.

The officers safely freed the baseball loving turtle, carried it away from the field, and released it near a marsh, where it could continue on its way.

Thank you to the resident who called and allowed us to use a bin to move the turtle.

A great outcome for both the turtle and the community!

On Saturday, Chief Clark, Officer Brizard, Officer Clark, Officer Schmitz, and Officer Castiglione had the privilege of participating in the Massachusetts Special Olympics Cruiser Convoy.

Reading Police Officers and Police Officers from all across Massachusetts, cheered on the athletes at Harvard University and helped hand out medals to the athletes.

Congratulations to all the athletes and thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible!
