Danny was craving a cheesesteak today, so naturally, we headed to JD’s Steaks, LLC. As it turns out, we picked the perfect day, they were celebrating their 2nd anniversary! 🎉

I had the opportunity to personally congratulate Jamey on this great milestone and thank him for all he does. As always, the food did not disappoint. Great cheesesteaks, great service, and even better people.

Congratulations to Jimmy and the entire JDs Steaks team on two successful years. Wishing you many more years of continued success!

My heart is heavy as I think about the loss of Officer Yeager. Today, I join our community in mourning a dedicated public servant who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting others.

No one should ever have to experience the pain of losing a loved one who left for work and never returned home. My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Yeager’s family, friends and fellow officers as they recovers from this tragic incident.

I ask everyone across Berks County to keep them all in your prayers and lift them up during this incredibly difficult time.

Officer Yeager, thank you for your service, courage, and commitment to our community. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for everyone who has died serving in the American armed forces. The holiday, originally known as Decoration Day, started after the Civil War to honor the Union and Confederate dead and became an official federal holiday in 1971.

Last week, I joined local, state, and federal partners for the Reading Opportunity Zone & Affordability Roundtable hosted by the Reading Housing Authority.

I truly appreciate Stacey Keppen and the RHA team for bringing everyone together for an important conversation on housing, development, and affordability in Reading. Thank you as well to Joseph DeFelice, Assistant Deputy Secretary and Regional Administrator of HUD, for visiting our city and being part of the discussion.

These conversations matter as we continue working to create more opportunities for our residents and move Reading forward.

Today, my heart is heavy and honestly filled with anger seeing how quickly people are choosing violence to settle disagreements. Too many lives are being changed forever over moments of rage, pride, or lack of communication. Families are hurting, our community is grieving too often, and our young people are watching all of this unfold.

We have to do better as a community. We need more understanding, more compassion, more conversations, and more accountability. Disagreements are a part of life, but violence should never be the answer.

Our neighborhoods deserve peace. Our children deserve to grow up feeling safe. And every life is too valuable to lose over senseless acts of violence.

I pray for healing, for unity, and for a future where we choose respect and resolution over anger and destruction. Enough is enough

Hoy, mi corazón está dolido y sinceramente lleno de coraje al ver lo rápido que muchas personas están recurriendo a la violencia para resolver sus diferencias. Demasiadas vidas están siendo marcadas para siempre por momentos de ira, orgullo o falta de comunicación. Las familias están sufriendo, nuestra comunidad está de luto pasando muy a menudo, y nuestros jóvenes están viendo cómo todo esto se desarrolla frente a ellos.

Today, I had the privilege of celebrating 89 hardworking individuals in our community as they graduated from Tec Centro Berks in areas such as medical billing, plumbing, culinary arts, and many more.

Standing alongside their families, friends, and local leaders, we all beamed with pride as we recognized everything these graduates have accomplished. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to building a better future is truly inspiring.
And this is only the beginning. I have no doubt these graduates will continue to achieve great things and make a positive impact throughout our community.

Congratulations to the entire graduating class of TEC Centro! Your future is bright, and we are all proud of you.

Hoy tuve el privilegio de compartir y celebrar junto a 89 personas trabajadoras que se graduaron de TEC Centro en áreas como facturación médica, plomería, artes culinarias y muchas más.

Today, Danny’s love for cheesesteaks brought us to Gazzo’s Steaks and we were definitely not disappointed. In fact, Danny gave it a strong 9.5 out of 10.

The seeded rolls were truly one of a kind and made the cheesesteak stand out even more. But what made the visit extra special was the welcoming atmosphere created by Brian, better known as “Uncle B.” His hospitality made us feel right at home.

Great food, great people, and another memorable stop on Danny’s cheesesteak journey.

El amor de Danny por los cheesesteaks nos llevó hoy a Gazzo’s Steaks y de verdad que no nos decepcionó. De hecho, Danny le dio un sólido 9.5 de 10.

El pan con semillas estaba a otro nivel y fue parte de lo que hizo este cheesesteak tan especial. Pero lo que hizo la visita aún mejor fue el ambiente tan acogedor creado por Brian, mejor conocido como “Uncle B.” Su hospitalidad nos hizo sentir como en casa.
