Blue Devil Retirement Spotlight: Rebecca Reynolds

Rebecca Reynolds may have thought she was already retired, but Reading Schools was fortunate enough to get a few more incredible years with her after Becky Johnson encouraged her to return as a long-term substitute for Megan Overbeck. Following that experience, Mrs. Reynolds found her home in 8th grade, where she has served as an Intervention Specialist and made a lasting impact on students and staff alike.

One of Mrs. Reynolds’ favorite memories has been working in the science resource room this year and celebrating student achievements alongside her students. The one-on-one connections she built with students reminded her why she first entered the field of special education. She also fondly remembers experiences outside the classroom, including trips to FC Cincinnati matches, Cincinnati Cyclones games, and the Miami Watershed.

As retirement begins, Mrs. Reynolds is looking forward to enjoying some classic retiree activities like reading, traveling, and finding new ways to stay active and busy.

Mrs. Reynolds also shared a heartfelt shoutout to the entire SPED team, describing them as some of the most amazing individuals she has ever worked with. She praised their passion, commitment, and dedication to ensuring every student feels included, successful, and truly seen. She noted that their willingness to go above and beyond for students is unmatched and that Reading students are incredibly fortunate to have such a phenomenal group supporting them every day.

Thank you, Mrs. Reynolds, for your compassion, dedication, and advocacy for students throughout your career. We wish you a retirement filled with joy, adventure, and meaningful new experiences!

Blue Devil Retirement Spotlight: Andy Janig

For more than 30 years, Andy Janig has made an incredible impact on Reading Schools! Since joining the district in 1994, Mr. Janig has inspired generations of students through his passion for history, government, law, and leadership.

Throughout his career, Mr. Janig has served in countless roles, including Social Studies teacher, Mock Trial Advisor, Weight Room Coordinator, and Class Advisor. Whether teaching U.S. and World History, Constitutional Law, Criminal Justice, or Government, he always challenged students to think critically and strive for excellence.

One of Mr. Janig’s favorite memories has been watching the Mock Trial team compete — moments that showcased the dedication, talent, and determination of Reading students year after year.

As he begins retirement, Mr. Janig is looking forward to life as a full-time grandpa while also spending more time traveling, hunting, and fishing.

Mr. Janig shared special thanks to the entire Reading community for “taking a chance on me way back in the 90s,” along with the many teachers and students who inspired him throughout his career.

Thank you, Mr. Janig, for your decades of dedication, leadership, and commitment to Reading students. We wish you a retirement filled with family, adventure, and unforgettable memories!

Our fabulous students did an amazing job bringing history, sports, music, business, and more to life. From Elvis Presley to Milton Hershey to Simone Biles, our students rocked it as they transformed into their famous figures and shared what they learned with confidence and creativity.
