Northern Berks Regional Police Department

Northern Berks Regional Police Department Serving the residents of Maidencreek Township, Ontelaunee Township, and Leesport Borough. Response time could be as high as forty-five minutes.

HISTORY

Before 1991 the three municipalities now served by the Northern Berks Regional Police Department, Maidencreek Township, Ontelaunee Township and Leesport Borough, all had their own part time police departments. All three police departments provided only limited services and part-time police protection. For many hours of each day, the departments were out of service and the residents had t

o rely on the Pennsylvania State Police for their safety and security. Dog’s barking, neighbor problems, parking problems, vehicles speeding through neighborhoods, did not normally merit a personal response from the State Police. In 1991 the two municipalities of Maidencreek and Ontelaunee Township consolidated their forces into the Maidencreek Ontelaunee Joint Police Commission. In 1998, the Northern Berks Regional Police Department was formed through the merger of the Maidencreek Ontelaunee Joint Police Commission and the Leesport Borough Police Department.

This morning the Northern Berks Regional Police Department had the privilege of escorting local students and their farm tractors to the Schuylkill Valley High School for Tractor Day! 🚜

Our officers were happy to help and loved seeing the impressive tractors rolling down the road as the students proudly drove their tractors to school, celebrating our community’s strong agricultural roots and school spirit.

Thank you to the students, families, and school staff for including us in this fun tradition and for partnering with us to keep the roads safe for everyone.

After seeing today’s lineup, we’re starting to think the NBRPD might need its own patrol tractor one of these days! 🚜 🚔
