A public hearing to amend our zoning ordinance regarding Solar Energy Systems (Section 390-59.1 of Ordinance 827) is in the works. The Planning Commission and the Board are making updates to ensure we properly regulate these systems to prioritize neighborhood safety.

Key Safety Updates Include:

- Mandatory Removal: Any residential solar panels deemed abandoned and not producing electricity for 12 months must be removed from the roof. This change was strongly recommended by our local emergency responders, as inactive panels pose a safety hazard and force firefighters to take extra, time-consuming precautions during emergencies.
- Decommissioning Plans: Any new systems installed will require a complete decommissioning plan submitted to the township prior to receiving a permit.

We're doing our best to ensure our local regulations protect both your private property and the emergency personnel who keep our community safe.

Stay tuned for important dates.

We hear your frustrations regarding the heavy traffic and backups on Gibraltar Road, Business Route 422, and Pheasant Run.

This congestion is largely due to PennDOT detours and the recent closure of the iron bridge over the canal in neighboring Robeson Township. 🚧

The township is actively taking steps to help. We are working with traffic engineers to adjust light timings from the Demoss intersection all the way to Lincoln Road to help alleviate morning and evening rush hour gridlock on 422.

Please allow extra travel time and drive safely while these regional detours remain in place.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our May meetings.
This past month was a busy one for the Township across infrastructure, safety, and community services.

Key actions included breaking ground on the transformation of 1 Hearthstone Court into our future permanent administrative home, and police detectives are on track to move out of temporary trailers by year's end. Additionally, the Board approved new measures to improve public access, solar energy safety, and groundwater protection across the township.

A special s/o to our Police Department for hosting a successful identity theft seminar at the library. *Reminder* No legitimate government or utility agency will ever ask for payment over the phone or request gift cards. When in doubt, hang up and call us directly!

⚠️ Trout Run *Update* ⚠️
* The perpetrators came and removed the fence from the brush pile*

If the fence that was recently dumped in the brush pile at Trout Run belongs to you, please remove it as soon as possible.

The brush disposal area is intended for brush and natural yard debris only. Items such as fencing, posts, rebar, nails, lumber, construction materials, and other non-brush debris are not permitted and create safety and disposal issues.

If the fence is not removed, we will review security camera footage to identify the responsible party. Any resident found to be improperly disposing of materials may have their access card deactivated and could face additional action.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep the brush area clean, safe, and available for its intended use.

Our community is built on the hard work of local organizations that provide essential services and support our neighbors.

We want to use our platform to highlight the dedicated volunteers who make Exeter a great place to live and work. Today we focus on the Exeter Lion's Club.

The Exeter Lions Club is a cornerstone of civic pride, focusing on community projects and local support.

The support of sight-related causes was the beginning. These days they do that and so much more like roadside cleanup programs, scholarships for deserving HS students, and toy drives. Their work is a vital part of our Township’s "Small-Town Feel". These are your neighbors working together to solve problems and improve our community.

Why we are highlighting them:
Strategic partnerships with organizations like the Lions Club allow the Township to foster an Active Community Connection and showcase the collective effort that makes Exeter special. We are proud to have the Exeter Lions Club serving our residents.

Please join us in thanking them for their commitment to our Township.

Want to get involved?
Send your membership inquiries to Chairperson, Lion Bradford Kissam at [email protected].
