Topic description:
We all want to fly but none of us was born with wings! It took the Wright Brothers years of trial and error to get into the air. This hands-on interactive simulation will take you through the trials and errors of manufacturing your own flying machines. In small groups, you’ll race to see which team can construct the greatest quantity of flying machines in the shortest period. During the game, you will learn about process improvement, 5S and other Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Who should attend:
Curious children of all ages
Supply chain professionals looking for new techniques
Process improvement managers

Speaker Biography Rick Cathers:

Rick Cathers is a Change Master and president of MicroCraft, The Knowledge Company. He works with domestic and international clients to identify process problems, develop solutions, implement organizational change and improve financial results. He specializes in process modeling, technology selection, performance measurement development, and quality improvement projects.

Rick actively works to spread the APICS Body of Knowledge. For over 28 years, he has taught CPIM certification review courses. In addition, he develops customized education programs for companies based on these courses. These programs are geared to solve specific educational needs that will help a company to achieve its business objectives. Rick also works with individuals to improve their training and public speaking skills as a Train-the-Trainer and Learning Dynamics for Instructors teacher.

Rick is an active member of APICS. A featured speaker at National and International conferences, seminars and chapter professional development meetings. He is an Adjunct Professor at Camden County College.

Speaker Biography Art Hudson:

A member of APICS for over 25 years and an APICS instructor for 10 years, Art Hudson is currently the President and co-owner of Rapid Circuits, a circuit board manufacturing company addressing the prototype and preproduction requirements of their customer base. Throughout his career, Art has managed small and large-scale manufacturing and service operations. Learning to compete in a world economy, Art has dedicated his efforts to Process Excellence, Business Process Improvement and world class response to customer needs. He addressed these challenges by establishing quality initiatives, strategic and operational plans, handling organization change, improving productivity, and containing cost. These companies include Mobil Oil Corp. and Tyco Electronics.
Art holds an engineering degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a MBA from New York University. He earned the CPIM, Certified in Production and Inventory Management, and was one in the first APICS members to earn the CSCP, Certified Supply Chain Professional. He currently instructs both certification courses for PAN-APICS.
