WARRANT APPREHENSION

On June 10, 2026, the Berks County Sheriff's Office Warrants Unit apprehended Eric Maione, 33, in Wernersville.

He was transported to Central Booking for processing and arraignment. Bail was set at $25,000 unsecured, and he was released pending further court proceedings.

All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On May 14, 2026, Eric Maione allegedly assaulted and strangled a female victim while she sat in her vehicle with her children present, causing her to briefly lose consciousness before fleeing the scene.

Charges were filed by the South Heidelberg Township Police Department.

Today, our department mourns the heartbreaking loss of Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service on May 29, 2026.

Officer Yeager served our community with courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication. She answered the call to protect and serve each day, placing the safety of others above her own. Her commitment to her badge, her fellow officers, and the citizens she served will never be forgotten.

We ask that you keep Officer Yeager’s family, friends, and our entire law enforcement family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

🚔WARRANT APPREHENSION

On May 28, 2026, members of the Berks County Sheriff's Office Warrants Unit apprehended Maria Gonzalez-Guzman in the 1500 block of North 10th Street, Reading, Pennsylvania.

Gonzalez-Guzman was wanted on charges filed by the Cumru Twp. PD, including Financial Exploitation of an Older Adult, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Identity Theft. According to court records, the charges stem from allegations that she unlawfully obtained $14,767.65 from the victim.

Following her arrest, Gonzalez-Guzman was transported to the Berks County Central Booking Center for processing and arraignment. Bail was set at $75,000 secured, and she was subsequently committed to the Berks County Jail.

On March 9th, 2026, the defendant Allen Witkowski encountered a Norfolk Southern Railway Police Officer while walking along the rail line owned by the Norfolk Southern Railway. Witkowski was told multiple times not to be on their property. Charges were filed by the Norfolk Southern Railway Police Department on 4/20/2026.

On 03/08/2025, the defendant Jeremy Jefferson went to the victim’s residence and forcibly grabbed onto her. Jefferson then ripped the victim’s phone out of her hands and left out of a rear door of the residence. Jefferson is also wanted for a Berks County Adult Probation warrant.
