Berks Early Care and Education Council

Berks Early Care and Education Council BECEC is a group of people who meet regularly to improve Early Intervention Services in Berks County. Parents are especially welcome at all meetings!

The Berks Early Care and Education Council (BECEC) is a community based organization made up of parents, local agencies, businesses, and individuals interested in the field of early intervention (birth - 5 years). This council is an advisory group mandated by federal and state law to provide assistance in planning and implementing early intervention systems at the local level. Early Intervention i

s the practice of identifying and addressing delays, disabilities and special needs of young children and their families. the Pennsylvania Early Intervention Services System Act -212 provides for services to eligible infants, toddlers and preschoolers from birth to school age. The philosophy and intent of this law is that all services are family centered; services are for the benefit of the family and consider the unique strengths of the child with special needs in the context of his/her family. Parents, Teachers, Therapists, Doctors, Nurses, Business People, Community Agencies, Headstart, Preschool, Day Care, Department of Health, Department of Welfare, School personnel, and any one interested in Early Intervention Services can take part in the group.
