Council On Chemical Abuse The Council on Chemical Abuse serves in a lead role, offering the resources necessary to respond to

Since 1972, the Council on Chemical Abuse has served in a lead role, offering the resources necessary to respond to the complex problems of substance abuse. Designated by the County Commissioners as the Single County Authority (SCA) for Berks County, the Council is responsible for the administration and management of publicly-funded alcohol, tobacco and drug services. The Council is a non-profit o

rganization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors reflective of the local community. The Council on Chemical Abuse serves as the coordinating agency for publicly supported drug and alcohol programming in Berks County. These services are made possible through the Berks County Board of Commissioners, tax dollars received from federal and state governments through the Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs (Pennsylvania Department of Health), the United Way of Berks County, and private monies received from client fees and private/corporate contributions. The Department of Health specifically disclaims responsibilities for any analyses, interpretations, or conclusions herein. The Council on Chemical Abuse provides countywide leadership in the development and implementation of policies, programs and a system of prevention and intervention services that prevent the onset of illegal alcohol, tobacco and drug use and treatment services that promote recovery from addiction to all substances.

Thanks to all who came out to help celebrate the two year anniversary of the Health to Go Vending Machine yesterday at the Reading YMCA of Reading & Berks County. We enjoyed meeting people, showing them how the machine works and providing data about items dispensed. We extend a special thanks to John George who received a certificate of appreciation for his work maintaining the machine.

Today is ***coDay 🚭

To***co and ni****ne companies deliberately design their products to hook you.

Sugars, flavors, and cooling agents all mask the harshness of ni****ne so you inhale more, and get addicted faster.

Learn more about the dangers of to***co and ni****ne on our website: https://cocaberks.org/about-addiction/to***co-addiction/

While we want to congratulate all new high school graduates, we also want to remind parents during this weekend that it is illegal to give your teens alcohol. You can lose your license, get fined, or go to jail.

Instead of celebrating with alcohol, opt for juices or sodas instead. Protect yourself, protect your teens.
