The Spring Township Police Department is proud to join the Berks County District Attorney and other local police departments by participating in the Blue Envelope program. Check out our friends at the Central Berks Police for a great explanation of how it works, and stop by our office to pick up an envelope for yourself or for someone you know who could benefit from one.

๐Ÿ’™ โœ‰๏ธ INTRODUCING THE BLUE ENVELOPE PROGRAM ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš“

Central Berks Regional Police Department is proud to participate in the Blue Envelope Program, a resource designed to help make traffic stops safer, calmer, and more comfortable for drivers with special needs, including individuals who are nonverbal or may have difficulty communicating with a police officer.

The Blue Envelope provides a simple way for a driver to alert an officer that they may need additional time, patience, or alternative methods of communication during a traffic stop.

๐Ÿ’™ How does it work?

Drivers who participate can keep their important vehicle documents inside the Blue Envelope, including:

โ€ข Driverโ€™s license
โ€ข Vehicle registration
โ€ข Current insurance card
โ€ข Emergency contact information

The envelope also includes helpful information for the officer about how the driver may respond during an interaction.

The Blue Envelope does not mean a driver is exempt from traffic laws or a traffic stop. Instead, it provides officers with important information that can help them better understand the driver and communicate appropriately.

We are proud to support a program that promotes understanding, communication, safety, and compassion between our officers and the community we serve. ๐Ÿ’™

If you or someone you know could benefit from the Blue Envelope Program, please contact Central Berks Regional Police Department for more information about obtaining one.

Working together makes our roads safer for everyone. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ
