For the last few years the Village of Readstown has been asking our residents not to flush baby wipes, facial wipes or any other type of personal wipes down the toilet....even if the package says flushable! These wipes cause major damage to the water pumps in the sewer plant. In the last couple of years, the pumps had to be replaced, pulled for cleaning and repaired because of the wipes. Last year we purchased a basket to help catch the wipes. While this helps, it is not a permanent fix to the problem! Please remember these costs eventually result in higher sewer bills! Here is a picture of the basket in action with an estimated 200 lbs of wipes. Please don't flush the wipes!

This week is National Telecommunications Week and for a job that's very serious we'd like to share a little fun.
Every call for service either from a citizen, an officer, or a first responder agency goes thru a dispatcher.
They know the lay of the land without being outside. They know tones of voices. They have gut instincts like no other.
But all jokes aside they are vital and without them this puzzle would never go together.
So thank you dispatchers for all you do, all you endure, and your friendship.
This week is for you Vernon County 911 Center, Viroqua Police Department dispatchers, Gundersen MedCom dispatchers and those in surrounding counties we work with as well.
Thank you.

It may be spring 🍃, but winter just refuses to leave❄️.

If you are thinking of using a portable heater to take the chill out of the air, remember to heat safely.

✔️ Plug space heaters directly into the wall outlet. Never use an extension cord.
✔️ Keep anything that can burn at least 3 feet from your heater.
✔️ Turn off your space heater if you leave your home.
