It may be beautiful outside right now but looks like we are in for some weather this evening.

Thunderstorms, Rain, Wind and Hail will be moving into our area. With that we know that it could mean power outages, flying debris, low visibility while driving and downed trees or utility poles.

Please be careful and avoid any utility poles that have fallen until the utility company has been notified and deemed it safe. If you have medical equipment that uses power be sure to have backup power source, and if you must be on the road please use caution and drive for the road conditions.

As always your LCFD crews will be available should an emergency arise.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine while it’s here!

This week is National EMS Week 🚑

We would like to recognize and celebrate the EMTs who answer the call — often at all hours, in all weather, and during some of the hardest moments people will ever face.

Our EMS providers bring compassion, skill, calm, and dedication to every response. They show up for medical calls, accidents, lift assists, public events, trainings, and the countless moments in between that often go unseen.

We are grateful for the time they give, the knowledge they continue to build, and the care they provide to our community.

Please help us in saying ‘Thank you’ for your service, commitment, and willingness to answer when help is needed. Your department and community appreciate everything you do.

Today is Armed Forces Day, and we want to recognize the members of our department who have served in the military.

The commitment to serve others doesn’t end when the uniform changes. We’re proud to have veterans in our department who continue to dedicate their time, skills, and leadership to protecting and serving our community.

Thank you for everything you’ve done — both in service to our country and here at home. We appreciate you today and every day.

Please join us in thanking all those currently serving and those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. 🇺🇸

When we say travel can be hazardous in high wind events this is what we mean. Dust and debris blowing across the road causing limited visibility as well as the potential for high-profile vehicles blowing over. We are also expecting rain today which will also affect visibility and road conditions.

Be safe and stay vigilant while traveling today.

💨 We will be under a Wind Advisory starting at about 5am tomorrow lasting until around 11pm.

Winds will be from the Southwest at 20-30mph with gust up to 45-60mph in some areas.

High wind events like this can lead to power outages, downs trees, broken tree limbs and flying debris. It can cause hazardous driving conditions especially for those in high profile vehicles.

Please be cautious when traveling and be aware of trees and utility poles.

Avista is also preparing for the high wind event and potential power outages. Follow their page for additional information and their outage map.

As always your LCFD4 crews will be ready and available should you need us. Stay safe!

High winds are in the forecast for tomorrow, which may lead to power outages in some areas.

✅Now is a good time to make sure you’re ready.

Visit myavista.com/outages for outage preparedness tips and to access our outage map. A little preparation today can help if the power goes out tomorrow. Stay safe!

Yesterday marked the final Fire Safety Day of the 2025–2026 school year.

On the second Friday of each month, Firefighters Doug and Linda visit students at Reardan-Edwall School District to provide fire safety education and hands-on activities that make learning fun and memorable. The end-of-year session is always a favorite, featuring fire truck rides and an opportunity for students to operate a fire hose.

We truly value the opportunity to connect with students, teach the importance of fire safety, and provide CPR and first aid education throughout the district.

A huge thank you to the amazing teachers and staff at Reardan-Edwall School District for welcoming us into your classrooms and supporting this program each year.

May is Wildfire Preparedness Month 🔥🌲

This year’s fire outlook is already showing signs that Eastern Washington could face an active wildfire season. Warmer-than-normal temperatures, below-normal snowpack, and increasing drought conditions across North and Central Washington mean fuels could dry out earlier than usual.

This is a great time to prepare — before smoke is in the air. The graphic below has information on how you can prepare your property and protect your home.

As we head into summer, stay aware, stay prepared, and help us keep our community safe.
