Subject was transported to the Police Department but is so far uncooperative giving information.

Flag draped caskets do not know politics, race, or religion. They simply know peace. Men and women who died in service to their nation deserve to be remembered. For those buried both home and abroad, Thank You for your service.

The Rector Police Department was notified at approximately 7:10 AM that a vehicle had been stolen on North Phillips. Within minutes, multiple calls came in that vehicles had been gone through. All the vehicles were unlocked.

Vehicles on North Phillips, Susan Circle, East Allen, and Donelson were affected.

A traffic stop on a vehicle leaving that area yielded two 18 yr old persons of interest. Through surveillance cameras at Flash Market, Pharmacy, and Harps grocery store it appears the traffic stop vehicle was working in conjunction with the stolen vehicle. We are pursuing information on the subjects from the traffic stop in conjunction with Dunklin County Sheriff Department, Kennett Police Department, and Blytheville Police Department.

Please remember to lock your vehicles and remove valuables or store them out of sight. No fi****ms were taken that we are aware of, so please help secure your property.

The Rector Police Department served a Felony Warrant this evening on a male subject following a four month investigation into allegations of R**e of a minor. The warrant was for three counts of Class Y R**e. The subject was arrested at his residence without incident and taken to the Rector Police Department for interrogation and then to the Clay County Detention Center on a $500,000.00 Cash or Surety Bond.

There are numerous problems with Verizon and AT&T currently. We are still getting calls from land lines and Clay County advises that 9-1-1 is operational. The current information we have is service should be restored tomorrow.

Today at around noon, the Rector Police Department recieved a public service call from a citizen following a vehicle from Piggott towards Rector. According to the caller the vehicle, a white van was swerving in the lane and alternately speeding up and slowing down. The caller gave the License number to dispatch and the On-Duty officer responded. The caller advised the van pulled into the Harp’s parking lot. The duty officer pulled into the lot and observed the driver in the vehicle and confirmed the License plate which was expired with dispatch.

The driver exited the van and raised the hood. The officer pulled up and made contact with the individual. During the course of contact, the officer detected the odor of ma*****na coming from the van and driver. When asked about the ma*****na, the driver admitted to an ounce of ma*****na in the center console. When the officer looked in the window, three pills were visible laying on top of the console. After placing the subject in custody, the officer found 2.64 grams of Methamphetamine on the subject in his pants pocket. Further search of the vehicle yielded 2.3 ounces of ma*****na, almost 30 schedule 4 narcotic pills, scales, box of sandwich bags, full bag of syringes, and a large bag containing 75.48 grams of Methamphetamine!

The subject had $1,146.00 in cash on him in multiple denominations. The subject will be charged with 4 felonies including Possession of Controlled Substance with intent to deliver Class A, Drug Paraphernalia Class D, Drug Paraphernalia Class B, and Possession of Controlled Substances greater than 10g but less than 200g Class B. 3 Class A Misdemeanor charges will also be added. The Rector Police Department has filed for seizure of the money and vehicle. Good job RPD!

The Rector Police Department would like to warn citizens about yet another phone scam. Recently a call was recieved that showed CLAY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT on the caller ID but no number. The subject identified himself as Sgt. Richard Moore. He stated the reason he was calling was a warrant had been issued for missing Federal jury duty. He stated that the warrant fee could be handled over the phone. When asked what was the name on the warrant, he gave a name that the victim had not used in 20 years. She asked the subject what state the sheriff’s department was located he stated Arizona and before she could ask anymore questions the subject hung up. ANYONE RECIEVING THESE CALLS PLEASE DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UNTIL YOU CHECK WITH LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT.
