Congratulations to the City of Hoboken, the Hoboken Housing Authority, entire project team for winning a 2024 Smart Growth Award from New Jersey Future.

The planning efforts for this project built on prior work with Housing Housing Authority, which began in 2021. The Redevelopment Plan, which was adopted by the City in December 2023, will provide for the replacement of over 1,300 units with safer and healthier affordable housing opportunities for residents. The Plan additionally enhances flood resilience and establishes dedicated walking and bicycling connections to the broader City network.

Congrats to all of this year’s winners!

Congratulations to the City of Hoboken, Hoboken Housing Authority, Arup, HGA - Heyer, Gruel & Associates & WRT on being awarded a 2024 Smart Growth Award from New Jersey Future for the Housing Authority of the City of Hoboken Redevelopment Plan! 🏆

This mixed-use redevelopment plan will replace over 1300 existing units, establish new , and upgrade infrastructure to reduce flood hazard and increase accessibility while also extending the street grid to better integrate Housing Authority properties with the rest of the City. 🏘

As Redevelopment Counsel for the City, Maraziti Falcon looks forward to assisting in the negotiation of the Redevelopment Agreement between the Redeveloper and HHA in the near future. 🤝

Something a little fun for your Friday morning - a quick narrative about the 900 page Manual on Uniform Traffic Control style guide, including a note on the controversial font change of 2003 - gasp! For all our fellow traffic or graphic nerds out there, here’s a fun read to kick off your weekend!

Driving across America, you will encounter a wide variety of cultures, landscapes, people and animals. But the one consistent thing that will stay the same from Maine to California are the signs you pass on the highway. That is because America’s roads and highways have a big, fat style guide.

Congratulations to Bethlehem Township! We are looking forward working with the Township on planning initiatives aimed at supporting the Bethlehem community for years to come.

Feel Good Friday

Bethlehem Township has been awarded $170,000 from the New Jersey Highlands Council through its grant program. These funds will help offset costs associated with a Master Plan review and update, environmental inventory, stormwater management and a historic preservation plan which will provide analysis and engineering for the Vliet Farm next to Heritage Park. These funds are critical as the Township faces many new stormwater management regulations. They also deliver on a promise to not spend local tax dollars on the Vliet Farm as a potential cultural resource. Confirmation of this award came in this week and serves as a great start to the new year. Deputy Mayor Judy Nelson along with our planner Elena Gable of HGA - Heyer, Gruel & Associates coordinated the application for these funds, we are thankful for their work.

Farmland is hugely important to New Jersey's economy and way of life. Morris County's Farmland Preservation Program and the Morris County Agriculture Development Board have worked hard to preserve this resource and support their farmers.

The County Planning Board recently adopted its new Farmland Preservation Plan! To date, over 8,000 acres of farmland have been preserved throughout the County, and the new Plan furthers the goals of preservation for the next decade.

Thank you to everyone who work on and supported this Plan, or provided feedback through the public survey and public meetings. It can never be said enough - public input matters!

On October 18th, the Ridgewood Planning Board adopted its new 2022 Master Plan!

Beginning with the visioning process, which involved extensive public outreach initiatives and culminated in the Our Village Our Future visioning plan, and working our way through the multifaceted master plan process, the Village has demonstrated its commitment to investing in the future of its citizens and business owners.

It was a pleasure to work with the dynamic team at NV5 to bring this plan to completion. Also with the talented professionals at The Land Conservancy of New Jersey who prepared the Open Space and Recreation Plan as well as the Natural Resource Inventory.

A special thanks to the community members who participated in this multi-year process. Community planning doesn't happen without YOU, the community!
