On behalf of Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, we would like to take a moment and remind everyone that new laws governing the operation of electric bicycles 9e-bikes) will be in effect as of July 2026 across New Jersey. These changes are designed to improve safety for riders, pedestrians and motorists alike.
Parents, riders, and community members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated requirements regarding e-bike operation, age restrictions, safety equipment, and where e-bikes may be legally ridden.
As e-bike use continues to grow, responsible riding and compliance with the law are essential to preventing accidents and keeping our roadways and neighborhoods safe. For more information on New Jersey’s updated e-bike regulations, visit the NJMVC resources and stay informed.
