On 7/2/2026, at approximately 3:18pm, a youth escaped from the Tehama County Juvenile Detention Facility. Juvenile Detention staff immediately notified law enforcement and within minutes multiple agencies responded to assist Tehama County Probation Officers in the search. Within an hour the youth was located by deputies from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office and returned to custody.

We would like to thank the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, Red Bluff Police Department, Red Bluff Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Tehama Major Crimes Unit for assisting with the search and apprehension of the youth.

The safety of our community, staff, and youth remains our highest priority. Our preliminary review indicates that established security protocols were followed, and we are conducting a comprehensive assessment of this incident, and our security measures, to determine whether additional enhancements need to be made.

The employees of the Tehama County Probation Department are commended for acting swiftly and immediately to ensure the safety and security of the community.

Press release on the local warrant sweep conducted June 25, 2026

On June 9, 2026, officers from the Tehama County Probation Department were conducting compliance searches on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) offenders in Los Molinos. Compliance searches are conducted to ensure offenders are complying with the terms and conditions of PRCS. During a search of a vehicle at an offender’s residence, officers located approximately 33 grams of methamphetamine, 2 grams of fentanyl, various packaging materials, and drug paraphernalia. The offender was arrested and booked in the Tehama County Jail on two felonies, three misdemeanors, and a PRCS violation.

On May 20, 2026, the Honorable Judge Bottke, and members of the Tehama County Probation Department, along with the Tehama County District Attorney’s Office, Tehama County Defense Counsel, Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, and Tehama County Health Services Agency participated in the Treatment Courts graduation celebration. Treatment Court is a highly intensive program that is designed to ensure participants receive comprehensive and solution focused drug dependence treatment. Eight participants were recognized for completing all phases and requirements of their respective treatment court program.

The Probation Department would like to commend each graduate for the effort it took to reach this moment and encourage them to continue building on the foundation they have created. Congratulations again to all of the graduates on this well-earned accomplishment, and best wishes for the future.

On May 20th and 21st, we had the opportunity to assist CAL FIRE and the Red Bluff Fire Department with clearing transient encampments in the Spider Island and East Sand Slough areas in preparation for a controlled burn.

Crews removed approximately 10 tons of trash and debris from the area and the controlled burn was successfully conducted on May 21.
