At approximately 0430 hours this morning, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a white pickup truck, and the driver did not stop. This occurred on westbound Bowman Road just west of Broadhurst Road.

The weekend is here! If you plan to drink this weekend, plan your ride before you pour the first drink. Impaired driving is one of the leading causes of crashes we respond to, and far too many of them end in tragedy.

CHP Red Bluff will be out tonight (and every night) enforcing the law and looking for impaired drivers. Alcohol slows your reaction time and blurs your judgement. There is no "I'm fine" when you are impaired.

Call a sober driver, use a rideshare, or stay put. If you can't do it safely then don't drink!

No excuses, no second chances. Don't drink and drive.

SR-36E has seen far too many crashes recently, including multiple that have resulted in fatalities. In response, we have increased patrol and deployed the radar speed sign to slow drivers down and improve safety.

We will continue to maintain a strong presence on this stretch of highway, focusing on speed enforcement and distracted driving. If you are traveling SR-36E, stay alert and stay engaged. Safe driving demands 100% of your attention, 100% of the time.

Our hearts go out to those who have recently lost loved ones on this highway. We cannot force safe driving, but we will do what we can to slow this trend.
