Did you know libraries aren’t just for books? Patrons that have a current and active library card are able to check-out other items like: movies and television series on DVDs, music CDs, Audiobooks on CD, Audiobooks on PlayAway, STEM/STEAM Kits, Book Club Kits, video games and more! Patrons also have access to the CloudLibrary service, which allows access to eBooks and eAudiobooks on up to 5 personal devices. If interested in getting a Library Card, contact the Library or visit the front desk. Available to anyone, with or without a Library Card:
-Free 24-hour wifi
-Public Computer access
-Printing & copying services ($0.25 per page b/w; $0.75 per page color)
-Faxing($1.00 per page, sending and/or recieving; can only send to continental US)
-Local genealogy information
-Local Newspapers (non-circulating): North County News, County Journal & Republic Times
-Finley Park (located behind the library)
-Children/Family programs and events

We had a such a great time on the Library Crawl yesterday!
We were definitely over ambitious and only hit 4 libraries (DuQuoin, Metropolis, Carmi and Flora), BUT, they were libraries we wouldn’t normally visit!
Also, we went to Kentucky for lunch...😋🤭

We are having our Fall Storytime on October 27!
We will be reading 'The Pumpkin Thief' by Alice Hemming, followed by a craft to go along with the story.
Storytime begins promptly at 4pm.
The Story and craft are geared towards toddler through 2nd grade, but all children are welcome to come enjoy! Register by October 26 to be able to do the craft!

We will be closed this Friday, October 23 for Jamie and Bailee to participate in the IHLS Library Crawl together!

We apologize that there was confusion regarding being closed on October 16 to do the Library Crawl - we changed the dates and forgot to notify the newspaper. That's on us!!

Material will not be due on Friday, we'll count it as due on Saturday (giving one day grace, but online patron accounts may not reflect this).

They will be reading "The Day the Crayons Quit" by Drew Daywalt, and creating hands-on crafts and activities inspired by the book for after the reading.

In the mood for a black and white Halloween classic?
We will be showing the 1935 "The Bride of Frankenstein" movie, starring Borris Karloff inside the Library this Saturday, Ocotber 24.
The Movie begins promptly at 2pm, guests can start arriving at 1:30pm. Popcorn and Water bottles are provided by the Chamber of Commerce, but guests are welcomed to bring their own movie-theater snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic). Guests also want to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and/or pillows. There will be floor seating available, as well.
The recommended age for this movie is 10+; the Movie runtime is 75 minutes.
No registration is required, but we can comfortably fit about 30 guests.

**The Library is closed otherwise for this event-There will be no Library services available.
