The students of Red Bud High School spoke to our Club about Operation Snowball and the activities they are hosting that encourage students to engage in healthy night time activities. Our club also presented checks to the faculty in support of the Student Assistance Program, Musketeer Market and Royal Table.

Our club has been hard at work with our annual Apple Dumpling fundraiser. Funds raised help finance different service projects that support our schools and local community. Several years ago Red Bud Rotary did a fundraiser selling a collection of decorative birdhouses that featured Red Bud buildings. The photographer that created the birdhouses using his photos was Larry Braun of Benton Mo. Larry has won a number of photo competitions, has had his photos used by several publications and has had his photos on display at a number of galleries. Larry has just achieved what he considers to be one of his top achievements. One of his photos will be used as a U.S. Postal stamp. See the news report below.

Club members enjoyed visiting with the area 3rd grade students, looking up the longest word in the dictionary (which has over 1,900 letters) and delivering the yearly supply of dictionaries. Pictured are the 3rd grade classes from Prairie du Rocher Elementary, St. John the Baptist, St. John's Lutheran, Red Bud Elementary and Trinity Lutheran.

The Rotary Club of Red Bud, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in October, recently held a first-ever 'Delivery BBQ', preparing and delivering over 500 meals to local businesses. Proceeds from the fundraiser, which topped $3,400, will be donated to local school initiatives and programs to promote literacy, health, and wellness for students. Businesses who participated in the fundraiser included RBI, TMW, Ultrasite, Total Titanium, Comwell, Dieterich Bank, and Life Network.

"Rotary serves an important role in our community to link local businesses to civic service," says Matt Wagner, Rotary Club President. "Our Club saw an opportunity to provide funds to important programs in our schools, and we were able to partner with these local businesses for a successful event."

The Rotary Club will donate the proceeds to programs in our schools in Red Bud, Prairie du Rocher, and Horse Prairie earmarked for students who may be in need, as well as providing a dictionary and resource book for every 3rd grade student.

Pictured are representatives from several of the local businesses who participated in the fundraiser, along with local school administrators and teachers involved in the various programs. The Rotary Club of Red Bud visited the 3rd grade students at Prairie du Rocher, St. John's Lutheran, St. John the Baptist, Trinity Lutheran, and Red Bud Elementary to deliver dictionaries for use throughout the school year. This is an annual event that Rotary sponsors to help promote education in our community.
