Webster County Government Day was held on Thursday, April 9, bringing together 52 high school seniors from Silver Lake, Blue Hill, and Red Cloud. This annual program gives students a firsthand look at how county government operates.

The day began with introductions from each county official, followed by small group visits to various offices where students learned about the responsibilities and services each provides. Students also toured the sheriff’s office and fire hall, where they observed demonstrations and gained insight into public safety operations.

To wrap up the day, students participated in a mock trial and competed in a quiz game testing their knowledge of county offices. Congratulations to the Blue Hill seniors, who were named champions!
The Webster County Courthouse extends its sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this educational and engaging day possible.

Some concerns have been brought to the county’s attention today in regard to the jail demolition happening this week.

Multiple people have attempted to find the jail in the registry, but have only found the courthouse.

We strongly encourage the public to research the historic registry, both state and national for themselves.
