The Red Cloud Volunteer Fire Department is proud to be a part of the Republican Valley Task Force, helping provide additional resources and personnel when large wildland fires occur across Nebraska.

Last night, our department was requested to assist with a wildfire near Crawford, Nebraska. One unit and two of our members departed this morning to begin a 48-hour deployment, with their assignment starting tonight.

We are grateful for their willingness to answer the call wherever they are needed and represent our department and community with pride.

Stay safe, fellas! We appreciate your dedication and look forward to having you home safely.

If you’ve been wondering what’s taking shape north of 11th Avenue and Franklin Street, we’re excited to share that we’re building a new live fire training facility!
Our department is committed to continual training and skill development so we can provide the highest level of protection to our community and rural fire district. Thanks to a grant from Farm Credit Services of America, we were able to purchase the shipping containers that serve as the foundation of this project.
With proceeds from our Annual Soup & Hamburger Feed, we’ll be installing steel doors, windows, and modular interior walls that will allow us to simulate the inside of a home and reconfigure floor plans for a variety of training scenarios. The structure is being built two stories tall, giving us the ability to train for incidents involving multi-story homes, stairways, windows, rooftops, ladders, and other specialized equipment.
Once construction is complete, the containers will be painted and the facility will be ready to provide countless training opportunities for years to come.
We are incredibly proud of this project and grateful for the support of our community, donors, and sponsors who have helped make it possible. The entire department is excited about the opportunities this facility will provide as we continue working to serve and protect our community.

We really enjoyed participating in today’s controlled burn north of Blue Hill. Live fire trainings benefit the entire team, no matter if you’re a new firefighter or have several years under your belt. We also enjoyed the opportunity to get to train with our local WAR departments and continue to work together! Thanks again Blue Hill Fire Department for putting it on.
