Learning to read is the foundation for success in school, the workforce, and life. That's why I was proud to join the Pennsylvania Literacy Coalition to discuss the importance of implementing Act 47, which will bring evidence-based reading instruction, educator training, and universal K-3 literacy screening to schools across the Commonwealth.

Passing the law was an important first step, but successful implementation is what will make a difference for Pennsylvania students. By investing in literacy, we are investing in our children, our communities, and our future.

I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of Central Berks Police Officer Kristen Yeager, who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a call for service.

Please join me in keeping Officer Yeager’s family, friends, fellow officers, and the entire Central Berks Regional Police Department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Officer Yeager. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸💙

With summer approaching, energy use is expected to rise as customers begin running air conditioning more often.

PECO has been preparing for increased demand by strengthening infrastructure, testing systems, and improving grid resilience ahead of summer storms to help ensure safe and reliable service.

Beginning June 1, supply charges for electric and natural gas will increase, which may impact customer bills. Supply costs make up about half of a typical bill and can be purchased through a competitive supplier or passed through at PECO’s cost for those not enrolled with one.

Customers can learn more about their bill, usage, and assistance programs at peco.com/Summer.

I recently authored an op-ed outlining my concerns regarding large-scale data center development and the importance of protecting local communities, preserving open space, and ensuring transparency throughout the process.

Residents deserve a voice in decisions that will directly impact their neighborhoods, infrastructure, and quality of life.

Today, I announced a legislative package to protect local communities as large data center development expands across Pennsylvania.

My proposal would strengthen transparency, preserve local control, protect water and energy resources, and ensure residents have a voice before major projects move forward.

Data centers play an important role in our modern economy, but communities deserve responsible development that puts residents first.

✈️ The Shapiro Administration has announced nearly $10 million in state investments to support facility improvements, infrastructure preservation, and development at eight airports across Pennsylvania.

Right here at Heritage Field Airport (PTW), this investment will help move forward a major hangar expansion project, including the construction of two new hangars and continued development of the growing hangar area.

These improvements will support aviation services, emergency response operations, and economic growth in our region.

Pennsylvania can now move forward with more than $700 million in funding to expand high-speed internet access to rural and underserved communities across the Commonwealth.

Reliable internet is essential for education, healthcare, business, and public safety. This investment will help connect approximately 130,000 homes and businesses that still lack broadband access.
