UPDATE: Today's air quality alert has been expanded.

We got a lot of smoke in the air today. Please stay indoors as much as possible and be sure to have your inhalers on hand if you use them!

Again we are asking no burning until further notice. We are in very dry and dangerous fire conditions, and we don’t need anymore smoke in the air. We are working on a couple fires on the west side of the reservation as well.

‼️🔥🔥PSA🔥🔥‼️ Please share!
Just an FYI we have aircraft in the area assisting with a large fire in Ponemah, North Shore trail. In rough terrain, our ground operations aren’t always enough, or able to reach our heavily wooded areas. Our wildfire program does include a helitack program with highly trained tribal members that are able to work with a helicopter and assist with air operations. Again sometimes this STILL isn’t enough. When the helicopter isn’t enough we have contracted aircraft sitting in Bemidji which we are able to order and use. Without these necessary tools we wouldn’t be able to protect our land and resources as needed.
