The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for 27 counties in southwest Minnesota for tomorrow, April 22, due to extreme fire weather conditions, including low relative humidity and strong winds. ⚠️

In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for 27 counties in parts of southern, western, central, and northern Minnesota due to near-critical fire weather.

A Red Flag Warning means fires can spread quickly and grow out of control under the predicted conditions, including strong winds and low relative humidity.

Do not burn in counties where a Red Flag Warning is in effect and check any recent burning to ensure the coals are completely out cold.

Near-critical fire weather conditions are expected across northeast Minnesota today, Tuesday, April 21st. With high temperatures in the 60s and relative humidity values dropping as low as 15–20%, fires could spread rapidly if ignited. The driest conditions will occur between 11 AM and 8 PM. Please exercise caution with any outdoor activities that could cause a spark, and use caution with fire as wildfires can spread quickly in these conditions!

It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of one of our former employees. Patrick Norquay began his journey from Minneapolis on December 30th, 2025. Pat worked for the Red Lake Fire Crew for well over 20 years. Pat was a hard working family man who worked hard at home as well as all over the country fighting fire. He was always learning, as well as always teaching. He would often ponder and ask questions nobody else would have thought of. Pat was one of those people you were glad to have on your team. Because if nobody else was coming through, Pat was. He always went the extra mile for his fellow crew members, and will always be remembered as a hard working comedic man. If the days were long, you could always count on Pat to lighten the mood. He always had a funny joke, thought, or commentary. Pat went hard for his kids, and grandkids. Everything he did was always for them. They were what made his long days/nights on the line worth it.

We will sure miss you Otis. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. And of course all of the laughs.❤️

Celebrate the life of Patrick "Otis" Norquay and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
