🌧️⛈️ Severe Weather Alert for Southeast PA – August 20, 2026 ⛈️🌧️

Heads up, everyone! Steady rain this morning will give way to a much higher risk of strong to severe storms this afternoon and evening across Southeast Pennsylvania.

What to Expect:
Heavy rainfall could lead to flooding, with some areas seeing over 2 inches of rain.Damaging wind gusts and even a tornado or two are possible, especially later today.The National Weather Service may issue watches and warnings this afternoon and evening—stay tuned!

Timing:
Showers move in this morning, with storms intensifying south of I-80 and east of I-99 this afternoon and evening.

Stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts.Avoid flooded roads and seek shelter if severe weather approaches.

The Red Lion Borough Council is seeking interested residents to fill anticipated vacant Council seats for the remainder of unexpired terms through the end of 2027, following the submission of recent resignations.

Residents who are interested in serving their community and being considered for appointment should submit a Letter of Intent outlining their qualifications, experience, community involvement, and reasons for seeking the position.

Are you looking for a flexible part-time position that allows you to work independently and serve your community? The Borough of Red Lion is seeking a reliable and motivated Parking Enforcement Officer to help maintain safe, accessible, and compliant parking throughout the Borough.

What You'll Do

✅ Patrol downtown and other Borough areas
✅ Monitor parking meters and issue citations for violations
✅ Enforce Borough parking ordinances
✅ Maintain accurate records and reports
✅ Process documentation through PennDOT and local courts
✅ Attend court hearings as needed
✅ Report inoperable parking meters and related concerns

What We're Looking For

✔ Strong attention to detail
✔ Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
✔ Basic computer and data entry skills
✔ Excellent communication and customer service abilities
✔ Ability to walk long distances and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Schedule

Flexible scheduling available within the following enforcement periods:

Saturday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Applicants should be available to work a minimum of 2-3 hours per shift. Hours may vary to ensure effective enforcement and avoid predictable patrol patterns.

📢 PUBLIC WORKS NOTICE: Curbline Cleaning & Street Sweeping

The Red Lion Public Works Department is currently working throughout the borough to clear grass and weeds from curblines. As part of this effort, street sweeping will also be taking place to help keep our streets clean and looking their best.

🚫 Please pay close attention to all posted No Parking signs and restrictions. Street sweeping equipment cannot effectively clean areas where vehicles are parked.

Vehicles left on the roadway in posted No Parking areas will be ticketed. While issuing citations is not our goal, your cooperation is necessary to allow our crews to complete this important work safely and efficiently.

Our objective is simple: to make Red Lion look great for residents, visitors, and businesses, especially as we prepare for the upcoming Red Lion Street Fair on August 8th.

📢 Public Notice: Residents with trash pick-up on Hyson Lane 📢

Anthracite Waste will be collecting trash early Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026, on Hyson Lane before York Excavation begins paving operations.

✅ Please have all trash containers placed curbside the night before to ensure pickup.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation as paving work gets underway. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this improvement project! 🚧

Parking Reminder:
🚫 There will be NO PARKING around the blue water tower or in the rear of the library due to the food trucks and band setup in the park.
