Travel back in time and uncover the wonders of the ancient world! Each week, explorers will dive into a new theme — from painting sarcophaguses and writing in hieroglyphics to discovering ancient food, culture, engineering, and more. Every session features hands-on crafts, interactive stations, and creative challenges designed to bring history to life. Join us as we dig into the past and become true Ancient Explorers!

Registration is required! Registration begins May 17 and closes June 4th. Register at yorklibraries.org via the Events Calendar.
Registration is required, but explorers do not need to attend every week — join us for one adventure or all of them!
Ages 8-14

Kick off your summer reading adventure with some furry friends!

Our next Library Tales for Tails program is helping launch SummerQuest and this year’s theme: Unearth a Story! Dig into reading success with Evie the German Shepherd, Truffles the yellow lab, and Chloe the Westie on Monday, June 8 from 6–7 PM.

Reading to therapy dogs helps young readers build fluency, boost confidence, and keep their reading skills strong all summer long — plus, the dogs are excellent listeners.

Readers can register for a 15-minute time slot with their favorite pup. Spots fill quickly, so don’t paws too long to sign up! (See what we did there?)

Our first Eclectic Book Club meets TONIGHT from 6–7pm, and no genre is off limits. From classics to contemporary, thrillers to fantasy, weird picks to hidden gems—we’re ready to read it all!

We’re kicking things off with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and future book club picks will be chosen by the group. In other words…your next favorite read might be waiting just around the corner.

3) Pre-Register for the 2026 SummerQuest available for York County Libraries.
4) Starting June 1st, come to the library to pick up your registration packet.
