Our CART Volunteers!

Wow, we just tallied the volunteer hours for CART's 4th Quarter of the '25-'26 Fiscal year, and 5 individuals tallied an amazing number of total hours—165.5 hours—helping CART do its important work!

Thanks to drivers Grant Barnard and Scott Malone who ably fill in for CART quite regularly, taking driving duties off of Karen and myself so we can concentrate on other administrative things. Over 100 hours of driving time!

Thanks to newcomer Keith McNally who has volunteered a couple of times riding along on Friday mornings when we take a whole group up to Walmart in Laurel to go shopping. It's quite a job helping our passengers load and unload groceries and supplies, and riders have responded so positively to his help!

And finally, thanks to TAC member Barbara Marquardt, and rider Wanda Venegas, who have amassed over 50 hours helping us enter passenger ride data into the computer for reporting to MDT.

Again, for a grand total of 165.5 hours of volunteer service to CART and the transit-using community in Carbon County!

You may not know this, but every hour volunteers work, gets converted to a dollar value and reported to the Montana Department of Transportation. The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation and CART have to fundraise and match the dollars we get from the MDT Grant that ensures that we can operate. Your valuable time therefore subtracts from the dollar amount RLACF must raise to keep CART moving! That's a significant number of dollars saved!

On behalf of all of us here at CART, we thank you many times over!

CART Fundraising Campaign, part 2

This week's featured rider is Steve Kuna of Belfry. Read his story and the stories of 4 others from around the county who take advantage of the CART Transit service in all kinds of ways.

All this month, CART is promoting its annual fund-raising campaign to keep providing rides for people in all our communities around the county. Help folks like Steve continue to get where they need to go!

Mailers have hit mailboxes all over the county, so send in your donation using the remittance envelope you received. You can also give securely to the CART Campaign at: rlacf.org, or by calling (406) 446-2820. And THANK-YOU!

Until the end of June 2026, CART Transit is appealing to all citizens of Carbon County to support us in our annual fundraising campaign! Our goal is raise $45,000 to fill in our funding gap.

We recently surpassed the 25,000 Rides mark in our 5-year history, and truly we would not have been able to offer those rides to that many folks all across our county if it weren't for everyone who has contributed to our campaign over the years.

A generous donor has promised to match up to $10,000, so it's a strategic time to give if you can!

Read their stories....Please look for the personalized letters in your mailbox that make it easy to give. We have highlighted the stories of five of our volunteers from all over the county who use CART and depend on it! These will be posted here and throughout social media in the weeks to come. Real people, positively affected by CART. One is posted here!

Go, CART!
