Let’s cheer on Rig this week!!

Our very own Cadet, Rig Elton (pictured in the middle) is in Atlanta this week to compete at the SkillsUSA’s National Leadership & Skills Conference. What is he competing in, you ask? Firefighting, of course!

Rig secured a trip to Nationals by ranking top 3 at the state level. He will be tested through hands-on demonstrations as well as written and oral presentations. Knots, hoses, ladders, breathing apparatus, and fire control are just some of the areas Rig will be tested on. Timed events, as well as knowledge and accuracy will be a challenge that Rig is well equipped to conquer!

Everyone at Roberts Fire is so proud of Rig and will be cheering him on this week! We anticipate he’ll do very well, and we’re not just being biased 😉👨🏻‍🚒

Red Lodge Search and Rescue held a swiftwater training exercise on Rock Creek last Sunday to refresh our skills as water levels start to rise in local creeks and rivers.

Its a good time to remind everyone that water safety starts with you! Water currents can be deceptively strong and pfds are a must when recreating on or near the water. Make them part of your water safety culture!

With graduation right around the corner, the seniors in our Red Lodge High School Fire Science class wrapped up their hands on curriculum with a day of wildland fire and a day of structure fire suppression.

They have been working all semester on the skills they need to become entry level firefighters in both disciplines and it has been an honor teaching them. They will leave with dual credit at Red Lodge High and MSU-Billings, their certificates for NWCG wildland Firefighter 2 and the ability to sit for the state Firefighter 1 certification if they choose.

Strong work young men and woman! We're going to miss you for class, but hope to see you out fighting fire!

Good reminder Roberts Fire!

Good reminder Roberts Fire!

Local landowners have extinguished two grass fires on the side of the highway this week from ci******es, so this is your friendly reminder to please be aware of your actions. We cannot stress enough just how dry the grasses are this year.
Let’s do our best to help ease the fire season burden by staying alert and cautious!
